The Suicide Room

Chapter Four

*Frank*

I seem to be standing in some strange foggy field in the middle of nowhere. I don't know why I'm here, or where exactly 'here' is, but I know I'm really freaked out by it. Especially when I see a figure moving in the distance.
"Hello?" I call, trying to get an answer back. "Who are you?" There's no response. "I can see you you know. Who are you?" Still no answer, but the figure is getting closer, and it seems to be my mom. "Mom? Is it you?"
"Frankie darling. Why did you do it? You were never alone." She says, stepping into the open.
"I was alone, you and dad had left me, and there was nowhere to turn. I was left with my thoughts, and that's when they're the loudest. I couldn't take it anymore mom. I'm so sorry I disappointed you by killing myself. Looks like I can't make you proud dead or alive..."
I answered, trailing off at the end.
"You did make both me and your father proud. It's perfectly fine that you're just another troubled soul. We all are. This is your chance to redeem yourself though. Go back out there and improve your life and your soul, and make us even prouder." She answers, before stepping back into the fog.
Then everything goes black.

I wake up sweating bullets. Seems like that wasn't really a completely undisturbed sleep. I really hope this doesn't become a regular thing, I mean, I like feeling rested in the morning.
Either way, I roll out of bed, trying to push the thoughts of my dream out of my head, and slip on some new black skinny jeans and a Misfits t-shirt, along with my converse. Don't judge me, I hate not wearing shoes even inside when I'm alone.
Heading downstairs, I decide that I wanted to actually attempt to make myself a nice breakfast. I decide to open up the cupboards, knowing that the fridge is fill with a bunch of leftovers in containers, to find that the contents of the cupboards is different from last night. Last night, there was a bunch of different dry mixes for stuff, like instant mashed potatoes and shit. Now there's still dry mixes, but it's for pancakes and muffins and stuff.
"The hell?" I ask myself out loud.
Deciding to shrug it off, figuring that that's probably the way that this place works, and grab the pancake mix, deciding to give that a try.
With fail after fail of pancakes, with most of them left burn to the point of being inedible or flipped right onto the ground, I head to the fridge to see if that's changed too. Sure enough, all of the weird leftovers are gone and in its place are eggs and other breakfast foods, while the freezer holds breakfast sausages and stuff like that.
Grabbing the eggs, milk, and sausage I decide to make myself some microwave scrambled eggs. I was about halfway through whisking the eggs together with a small amount of milk when there was a knock at the door.
"One second!" I call, putting the mug filled with eggs and milk into the microwave along with the sausage (in separate containers of course) for a minute, starting it, and running to answer the door.
I open the door to reveal the same guard as yesterday, just a lot less tense because that other guard wasn't here. I was confused for a second before remembering that someone was supposed to come yesterday to tell me how everything works, but I probably slept right through that.
"Yo! Frank what's up?" The guard asks, raising his hand for a high five before realizing I probably don't know what's going on. "Oh, sorry. I'm Brian. I'm here to inform to you how everything works around here." He says while extending his right hand for me to shake.
"Hi Brian. Want to, uh, come in? I was making some eggs if you want any..." I say back, trying to show my hospitable side... if there was one.
"Nah, I'm good. I just ate. But I will come in so you can eat your eggs."
"Okay." I say, turning around to go and get the eggs and sausage out of the microwave that just beeped.
"Well at least you see how the food system here works now." Brian pipes in while I reach for my food.
"Well, kinda. I just kinda see how it's different foods than yesterday, but I figured that that's probably just something normal that happens around here."
"Yeah." Brian answers, leading the way to the dining room where we both sit down, me starting to eat. "You see, the food in all the cupboards will change for the meal. From 5:01 am-11:00 am it's considered breakfast, and all of the foods in the cupboards, fridges, and deep freeze downstairs will be related to breakfast somehow. 11:01 am-2:30 pm it's lunch, 2:31 pm-5:00 pm everything will have snack foods, 5:01 pm-9:00 pm is dinner, and 9:01 pm-5:00 am is all snacks again."
"Okay. Don't think I'll remember that but sure." I reply with a mouthful of eggs.
"Yeah there's no need to remember it, just remember that if you go looking for food and your type of food isn't there yet, it's just not the right time."
"Kay."
"Also, you may have been wondering about the houses here."
"Yeah a little."
"Well, here, we have a point system. You see, the point of the rooms is to make each person try and mend their troubled soul that couldn't properly make it through test #1, aka 'life'. Some people though, wouldn't care, and would be perfectly fine sitting here, not aging in the rooms. That would defeat the purpose of our system. So, points work in special ways. Rack up more points, you're allowed to go buy more stuff and do more things, until you've supposedly mended your soul enough to go on. There's a small blackboard that I don't know if you've noticed right where your front door opens. That will always show you what 'task' you're working on then and how many points/abilities you will get from doing that task, kinda like a video game. I know that right now, your task is to properly take care of yourself for one whole day. After this you will get 200 points, and the ability to go outside. This is everyone's first task, but after this, the tasks are personalized, and each ability and point you earn will make your life here in the rooms more fun, and you will practically feel your life energy improving as your soul mends itself. This is all I'm really supposed to explain to you, but if you have any questions, I guess I'll allow myself to answer them for you."
"Nope. Not really."
"Okay. After your first task is completed, you will be allowed to go outside and then you can ask me any questions you may have right by my main post at the door to the halls. You shouldn't really need to since after your first few tasks, everything should be explained and showed to you fairly well." Brian said, standing up, "I should probably go now, but thank you for your hospitality. I should see you again soon." And with that he turned on his heel and left through my front door.

Notes

Sorry I couldn't update earlier today, I was getting ready for easter the first half of today, and my mom decided to take me on a birthday shopping spree for the second half, so I just wrote this chapter right now sitting in my bed in the dark while my parents think I'm sleeping...
Whatever
Til next time.

That okay. Yeah I know its not going to be easy but believe me you'll get there. And just think, after 3 weeks you'll be able to see her again.

God, parents are fucking stupid sometimes. Just ignore them, they never seem to understand. Just try to keep your head up and focus on being healthy and living your life. I'm not sure how bad you're binges are but I could always give you some tips as to stopping them if they're what's making revovery difficult. Try not to use your parents as fuel to fast though, they're not worth it. Message me if you want to talk, stay safe and remember you're beautiful and one day your life will be so much more than this. <3
thanks for the update though, it's so good!!

And sorry about that last one I just kinda started talking and it all came out...

@Think Sassy Thoughts
Thanks, it's just... I don't know, doing that's a lot more difficult than it sounds. Plus, I don't know if you remember her, but the girl I talked about in section 8, who has basically become my source of happiness, has gone on a two to three week trip in four different states, and not even neighboring states to where I live. Basically she's gone, and I'm broken, and I can't actually see her for three weeks... :'(
