Just a Shadow In The Night (Mikey Way/OC)

Chapter Eight

My head hurt. It was almost as if I had a hangover, but I don’t remember drinking. All I remember was going to visit Mikey and Gerard and falling asleep. There had to be something else happened.

I could hear faint murmuring in the distance. I opened my eyes to find I was in a dimly lit room with a little bit of natural light. The light was coming from a small window behind me; it was a rectangular window, about a meter in width, no taller than a few inches. It was pretty high up on the wall, too. The floor was made of stone, the walls matched. The stone made the room colder than it needed to be. The room was quite spacious and the ceilings had various pipes going in different directions. It was if I was trapped in someone’s basement. As if I was kidnapped… Wait. That’s exactly what happened, it’s all coming back to me. Mikey kidnapped me. What the hell? I realized I was sitting upwards. I looked down to see I had my arms and legs tired to a chair, lovely. They didn’t tape my mouth shut or anything, probably because they’d want me to talk. They won’t be getting what they want.

I tried to focus on the murmuring; it was coming from the door across the room. If I could stop thinking, maybe I would be able to understand what the voices were saying.

“… Leaving… stay with… don’t answer questions…” I heard a familiar voice say. I assumed it was Mikey’s.

I’m guessing whoever he was talking to just nodded in response because I didn’t hear any more words after that.

I had nothing to do for a while after the conversation died down, so I just looked around. Honestly, I didn’t have a plan. I can’t break out by fighting. Whoever’s out there is obviously stronger than me.

Just then, I heard the door creak open. My head snapped up to reveal two men who I’ve never seen before. They stepped inside and looked at me. They were both fairly tall, certainly taller than me. One of them had a blonde fringe that hid part of his eye. He had bluish-grey eyes, a lip piercing, and some stubble.

The other one had a large, curly bundle of brown hair and brown eyes to match. He was taller than the other and seemed pretty nice, if it wasn’t for the way he was scanning my appearance.

My heart was pounding and my breathing quickened as they began walking closer. I hoped they wouldn’t be able to see my erratic breathing. I had to pull myself together… but that wasn’t going to happen anytime soon.

They were standing in front of me now, looking me up and down, as if they were trying to read my emotions.

The blonde one spoke up. “What’s your name?” He asked attentively, looking at me.

I didn’t answer. “They don’t need to know anything about me, they’re only babysitting me.” I thought, while staring at the rope tied to my wrist.

After realizing I wasn’t going to give an answer, he looked away.

“Not a talker, I see.” He sighed before continuing. “Well, I’m Bob, and this is Ray.”

I glanced at Ray, catching a small smile on his face. I looked back at the rope.

“We’re going to be… um… looking after you… until Mikey returns.” Ray informed me.
I didn’t notice earlier but Mikey had left large bruises on my arms from where he held me.

“We’re not sure how long he’ll be gone, and we can’t do much unless you talk to us.” Bob informed me.

I sighed. “These guys aren’t so bad. I don’t think they’re allowed to hurt me.” I thought.

“What do you want to know?” I asked quietly, looking through my eyelashes.

“Your name.” Bob said, smirking at me.

“Emilia.”

“How old are you?” Ray asked, cocking his head to the side.

“Seventeen.” I admitted, looking back down.

The room became silent, even more so than before.

The seconds that ticked by were excruciating, almost deafening.

Bob broke the silence. “Seventeen…?” He whispered.

I nodded. At this point, Ray was sitting on the floor with his head in his hands. Seeing them so shaken up made me feel uncomfortable.

“How old are you guys?” I asked, hesitantly.

They composed themselves before looking at each other, gesturing who should talk first.

Ray cleared his throat, looked at me and said “Twenty six.”

Bob looked at Ray, and then me. “I’m twenty four.”

“Cool…” I said awkwardly, unsure what to say.

There was a sudden slam of a door upstairs. Ray got up and opened the basement door, he listened closely.
“Mikey’s home.” He stated bluntly after a moment.

We weren’t doing anything wrong, but I felt a nervous fluttering in my stomach. There were the sounds of footsteps coming down the stairs, towards the door. Mikey swung the door open swiftly, looked at the three of us one by one, then said “Guy’s, you can go now. I’ve got this.”
