A Flame From The Future.

Second

Frank never thought about the red haired guy after their little run-in together. He'd sometimes glance at the forest, almost feeling like the tree's were watching him, but nothing ever came of it. He opted to not go out there anymore at night, he wasn't sure if the guy was a mugger or maybe had friends who would gang up on him. But as usual Gerard was the last thing on Franks mind today.

The school part of the day had let out and Frank and few other kids his age were playing soccer outside behind the large boarding school. It was getting dark outside now though and everyone knew they should be getting ready to go back indoors, but no one wanted to stop the game.

"Boys!" The headmistress yelled from the large double doors that lead into the stone made building. "Its time to come inside! Its getting late"
She said. With a few grumbles and groans the boys made their back to the building, half jogging. The sound of rustlings leafs caused Frank to pause though and peak into the forest that wasn't that far away. A few bushes shook and the sound made its way to his ears. On any other day Frank would have assumed it was some wild animal but after meeting the strange boy that night, he thought twice about it. "Frank!" Maria called out, grabbing his attention. He snapped his head in her direction and saw she was growing irritated at him just standing there. Reluctantly he started walking back to the building only to get half trampled by toddlers once he was through the door.

That night Frank laid awake in bed starring at the ceiling. All the other boys he shared a room with, which was about 30, were fast a sleep. But maybe they would be just as restless as him if they knew someone was possibly in the woods plotting their death? What if he was a soldier planning on kidnapping the presidents daughter who stayed at this school? Frank scrunched his nose. He really did dislike her. She always got special treatment and even a room to herself when everyone else had to share rooms by gender. Frank rolled his eyes, silently cursing the girl. Maybe since she has her own room the kidnapper will leave everyone else alone? Yes that was good.

Suddenly there was a knock at the window, making Frank jump half out of his skin. He turned sharply to look at the window behind his bed and across the room. The room was on the second floor.. Could have been a bird? Birds hit windows a lot. Stupid birds.

Another knock hit the window but this time Frank saw it. It was a small rock that was being flung to hit the glass. He scoffed then slowly left the warmth of his single bed, dragging his feet until he reached the window. When he looked down a gasp left his lips, it was the red haired boy, or soldier? No, kidnapper. Yes that's what he was. Frank cocked his head to the side and studied Gerard, yes he remembered his name. It was a hard one to forget. Only now did Frank couldn't really make out much of what he looked like besides the fact that he had bright red hair, which almost looked unnaturally red. Actually no, it did look unnatural, now that Frank thought about it. Suddenly another rock was hitting the window, making Frank jump again and someone in the room to stir in their bed. He didn't want anyone waking up so he decided to just go down stairs and confront the kidnapper.

He reached the outdoors easily, knowing this large building all too well. It was cold out and though Frank managed to grab his pea coat the wind still attacked that legs that were clad with sleeping trousers. "What are you doing?" He called but made sure not to be loud enough for someone within the building to hear him. The other boy turned sharp, almost startled sense he didn't know Frank was out there with him until just now. But Gerard still smiled at him nevertheless. "I was hoping I had the right window" He said and began walking towards Frank, but Frank took a step back from him. "Don't come any closer" He narrowed his eyes at the red head.

The redhead simply threw his hands up in defense. "I'm not a criminal" He chuckled dryly. Frank lifted his chin, peering at the other boy for a moment and only then noticed his outfit. The redhead wore what looked like a leather jacket with only half the sleeves. It seemed to be blue and other colors that Frank couldn't really make out with the moonlight alone. His pants were tight, were they jeans? They had a light tone to them and Frank doubted they were actually jeans. His shoes were the only normal thing he was wearing which were combat boots. Something even Frank wore, though they weren't popular in fashion. But the rest? he'd never even seen clothing sold that looked such as these.

"Sure you're not.." Frank says unsure. "What makes you thing I am one?" The redhead counters. "Well your clothing definitely doesn't make you look like a criminal" He says with a tone dripping sarcasm. The redhead took a second to glance at his outfit then lifted his eyes, looking Frank up and down, making him fidget under his gaze. The redhead forwarded his eyebrows then spoke "What year is this exactly?" Now Frank was confused. "Are you mentally ill?" He asked then took a small step forward with squinted eyes as if that would help him see what he's missing. Gerard simply shook his head with a laugh. "Just answer me" He demanded but in a light tone.

Frank rubbed his hands together trying to warm them and thought about the question and why this redhead didn't know what damn year it was. "1945" He finally answered, not realizing he had been holding his breath. Gerard gave a thoughtful look then nodded, averting his gaze to the ground before he spoke. "I need your help" He stated, suddenly becoming shy. "If you're here to kidnap Margaret I can give you her room number" Frank deadpanned. "What? No, I'm not here to kidnap anyone. I'm not a criminal" Gerard laughs in genuine amusement.

Frank rolled his eyes "Then what is it you want?" He demanded to know the answer. The redhead looked hesitant but finally decided he had no other choice but to at least ask. "Do you by any chance know where I can find some sand from Jupiter?" It was a serious question, but Frank couldn't help but burst out into laughter at the absurdity of it. It was absurd, right? The redhead didn't seem to think so as he crossed his arms over his chest and stared Frank down. Frank stopped laughing noticing the look in the others eyes. "You're serious?" He asked and Gerard nodded slowly. "Oh god, you are mentally ill" Frank said slowly with his mouth hanging open. Gerard just rolled his eyes then began stalking back to the woods. "Fine. If you wont help me than I'll find someone else who will" He said with determination, but in reality he didn't even know where to find anyone else to ask for help. Like he'd admit that to Frank though.

Frank blinked a few times, watching the redhead walk away before he decided to go after him. He had important questions to ask, after all.
"Wait! You're not gonna find anyone for miles and miles from this place" He called out while going into a light jog to catch up with him. Gerard gave him a side glance but kept walking, making his way into the woods now. "I don't care" He said simply "Its better than you laughing at me" He stated, but not in a hurt way. He didn't even know Frank, so the boys words or laughter never stung. But that didn't stop Frank from catching up to him and falling into step with the redhead. "So what, you're gonna just walk until you find a town? You'll die of starvation before you even find a road to follow" Frank said bluntly. "No I wont" Was the other ones reply. Frank shook his head though. "You have a vehicle?" He asked. Gerard shook his head. "Then how do you plan on finding a town?" Frank prodded further. The redhead huffed then stopped walking to address Frank. "I don't know" He said slowly and in a frustrated tone.

Frank scoffed and shook his head. "You have no plan?" he said, though it sounded more like a statement rather than a question. The other boy shook his head "I had a plan" He said in irritation. "But that all got ruined when this happened" Gerard held his arm out to reveal a bracelet that looked like it was made up of simple beads and string, except the beads were much more like marbles. One seemed to be chipped though, like the redhead had hit it against a stone. "I can't go anywhere unless I fix Jupiter" He stated simply. Frank lifted an eyebrow, completely lost in this conversation. Gerard sighed in exasperation but continued to explain. "The beads are all planets. If all the planets are made from the actual planets and they are lined properly on the string, it allows me to travel anywhere in time" He said.

Frank had seen a lot of weird things in his life time, hell, he walked in on Ray having sex with himself in the boys bathroom. But this, this was simply unbelievable. But Frank couldn't seem to wipe the amazed look off his face. He was wide eyed and staring at the bracelet closely now, as if it would reveal all the secrets to the universe. Maybe if it could reveal all secrets, he could find out what exactly was in that mystery meat the cook tried feeding them. "So.., you're not from here?, from this time?" He couldn't help but ask. The clothing, the way Gerard talked, it all began to make sense to him now. The redhead nodded but didn't bother to say anything else such as what time period he was actually from, and that for some reason bothered Frank a little. He wanted to know more but wouldn't dare ask. His small smile faded though when he noticed that one of the beads were completely white. "What planet is that one?" He asked. Sure, not much people knew a lot of things about planets in this age but they still taught and showed pictures of space in schools. "Oh!" Gerard exclaimed, seeming to forget that the bead was ever even there. Which in his defense, he never used that bead to begin with. It was kind of illegal. "That's just one I added.. If I think up a place I want to go to then rotate it, it'll take me there" He said proudly. It was something Gerard spent months trying rig up. Teleportation beads weren't sold in stores, and it was very illegal to make your own. Only the law could use them. Those pigs. Taking away freedom like it was theirs to own. He hated them.

"Show me" Frank said abruptly, the excitement visible in his eyes. "Um, I shouldn't" The redhead was hesitant. "Then why should I believe you? I bet you're full of shit" Frank countered, crossing his arms. Gerard chuckled but his face fell when he saw just how serious Frank was being. "I'm not lying" The redhead said in a matter-of-fact way. Gerard Arthur Way was not a liar nor was has he ever backed down from anyone. So of course when Frank called him a liar for a second time his ego blinded his other, more reasonable, thoughts. "Okay fine! I'll show you" He stated half in anger. And it only got worse when Franks face turned smug. Gerard narrowed his eyes, never breaking the other boys gaze, then just like that, he was gone. Frank froze, blinking a few times then jumped out of his skin when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He spun around quickly and was now face to face with a smirking redhead. Franks eyes went wide and his mouth fell open "That's- ... that's amazing" He finally said while out of breath. Gerard nodded in agreement, a smug look clear across his face.

A small echo sounded around the forest, bringing both the boys back to reality. It was footsteps followed by a female voice. "Frank!" Maria called out. She wasn't in sight and seemed to be running around the woods aimlessly. "Frank" She called again but not as loudly as before. She was out of breath by now. She had been looking all over the school for Frank after she saw he was out of bed when she did her midnight rounds. To say she was starting to panic would be putting it lightly. She was a mixture of anger and worry. "Frank!" She yelled for what seemed like the hundredth time. A tree branch caught her dress, making her stumbled and have to hold onto a nearby tree for support. "Damn it" She huffed between panting for air. "Maria?" Frank asked slowly from behind her. She spun around, clasping a hand over her chest from the surprise he gave her. "Franklin!" She scolded. "What in heavens are you doing outside?!" She whisper yelled. He didn't know what to say. He couldn't tell her about Gerard, so what excuse did he have? "I um-... I wasn't tired" Was all he could come up with. Maria gave him a deep look of disapproval, making him want to hide behind a tree to escape her gaze. He never understood why she was so strict with him and not everyone else.

"Inside, now. Its freezing out here" She mumbled the last part. Frank rolled his eyes but did as he was told and followed her back to the school.

Notes
