Can You Hear Me Cry Out To You?
Chapter 7
Dee's P.O.V
Half an hour later. Interview room with Jared Leto.
I set up the tape recorder and picked my notebook and pencil. All the time I was aware that Jared was watching me with interest. This is going to be a very long interview. Yay.
"You look very pretty, Dee." He said, smiling.
Here we go. "Thank you." I said as I faked a smile. "Okay so where do we start?" I asked myself out loud as I looked at the readers questions on the page.
"How about a date?" I knew he was going to do this.
"How about with the question from Margarita Costello from Manchester in the UK?" I asked. "Margarita would like to know how old were you when you first learnt to play guitar?"
He grinned. "Avoiding the question?" He said. "Okay. I was twelve. It was a Roland Juno 106. Great guitar."
"Samantha Turner from California asks what the first instrument you learned to play was?" I asked. Obviously I'm going to avoid the question.
"It was actually a old beat up piano in my first home."
"Darryl Hawthorn from New Jersey would like to know what's the closest you've come to dying? Morbid."
Jared laughed. "Isn't it just. It actually involved a gun and cocaine. But I'm not going to talk about that. Oh the trials of youth."
I nodded. "That's fine." I looked at the next question. "A easy one for you. Francis Jones from New York would like to ask what your hobbies are?"
"That would be snowboarding, skateboarding, hiking, writing songs, reading and painting."
"Not many then."
"Oh and dating."
Typical. "Carla Standing from Dublin in Ireland asks what is your favourite food and drink?"
"I like popcorn and vegetables. But I absolutely love hot chocolate."
"Gail Marks from Newark asks what is your happiest moment?" I wish this interview was over. He keeps eyeing me up.
"It hasn't happened yet. But I'm hoping you can change that later."
I sigh. "Joanne Cartwright from London in the UK asks which living person do you most admire and why?"
"Stephen Hawkins because he's a great example of triumph in the face of adversity."
I looked down at the last question. Shit. Why me? "Last question is from Betty Foyle from L.A. The question is what is your guiltiest pleasure?" I hate you, Betty Foyle from L.A.
Of course he grinned. "Hopefully you later." He laughed when I frowned at him. "Okay. It's art."
"Thank you, Mr Leto." I said as I stood up and turned off the tape recorder. "It was a pleasure." Shit.
"Oh it was definitely my pleasure." He shook my hand but didn't let go. "How about that date?"
I removed my hand and sighed as I looked him in the face. "Gerard and I are trying again." I told him.
"Damn." He muttered. "Lucky man. Good luck. I hope it goes how you want it to."
"Thank you."
Gerard's P.O.V
I kept looking at the clock. I was trying to decide if I should go in there when the door opened. Dee walked out with Jared following. She led him to the photo studio, where he disappeared inside. Then she headed towards me.
"How did it go?" I asked as she grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge.
She took a long drink then sighed. "That man is a flirt." She stated. "But he behaved. Just asked for a date. But when I told him we were trying again, he backed off gracefully."
At least now I can breathe easier. "How about I take you on a date instead?" I asked.
She smiled. "I'd like that."
Notes
