You Only Hear the Music When Your Heart Begins to Break
Black Eyes, Bloody Noses, And A Chemical Romance That No One Can Overlook
*Mikey's Point of View*
I sat on the bench, watching the P.E. people, swinging my legs a little. It was my free period, and I was spending it outside on a bench, watching people run. Great way to pass the time... Frank and I didn't have the same free period, so I was usually this bored during this part of the day, anyways. I expected it.
Someone waved at me, and I recognized the frizzy haired boy as Ray Toro, the one and only. I raised an eyebrow and smiled, waving back.
He smiled back at me, and then turned when someone shouted his name. He got hit in the face with a football. "Pay attention, Toro!" The P.E. teacher shouted.
I burst out laughing as Ray jumped to his feet, shaking it off and throwing the ball back to his partner. Everyone who hadn't realized I was there, was now looking at me as I laughed, gripping my sides.
I was thinking about lunch, and what had happened. Poor Frankie, he'd been out cold, and was in the nurse now. Gerard was in the principal's office because he had most likely broken Frank's nose, and if Frank's parents pressed charges, we were screwed.
Ray had gotten hit in the side of the head, he kept looking over at me instead of trying to catch the ball. I snickered under my breath as I watched him. "Ow! Bob!"
His partner was laughing.
Maybe Frank was right, maybe Ray did like me... I shook my head a little and yawned. "Nah, I'm just imagining things..." I mumbled, rubbing the back of my neck before laying down on the bench and closing my eyes.
I opened them a few minutes later when my sunlight was blocked, "Ray, your massive fro is eating the sun." I said once his figure came in to focus.
He laughed a little, "Period's over, thought I would tell you before your next teacher thinks you're gone." He said, moving so I regained the sunlight, right in my eyes.
"Arrgh!" I sat up and covered my eyes.
Ray laughed even more. "You're a dork." He told me, yanking me to my feet.
"Say's the one who got hit in the face at least ten times today." I retorted.
"I saw something that I liked." Ray replied, flashing the cheesiest grin I have ever seen. I couldn't help but smile back.
"You're cuter when you smile." Ray joked, I think.
"You're cuter when your hair isn't blocking my light." I told him.
"You should probably get back to class." He said, crossing his arms over his chest, and smirking down at me.
"Right." I nodded, and grabbed my glasses off the bench before I began to walk towards my next class. Ray walked right beside me.
"Shouldn't you be going to pick on some helpless kid with my brother?" I questioned him, only half sarcastically.
"Gerard is in the principal's office." He told me, beginning to chew on his lip a little.
“Are you… nervous?” I began to laugh a little.
"No!" Ray shouted, almost defensively.
I laughed harder, and ended up tripping, falling on to Ray. My face heated up harshly and I squeaked as we both toppled to the ground.
He looked worse then I did. His face looked like someone had thrown a tomato at him and it had splattered all over his face. "I'm so sorry!" I squeaked.
Seconds later, I felt a hand on the back of my shirt, and someone was jerking me to my feet, before offering his hand to Ray. It was Frank, "Are you two okay?" Frank had a smug look on his face, and he mouthed to me, "I told you so."
*Ray's Point of View*
P.E. was the worst period of the day. I hate hate hated it so much, but today we had a watcher, so I was trying a bit harder then usual.
Running was horrid, but what was even more horrid was the football that was coming after. I hated football, and I couldn't catch for shit.
"Get a partner!" The gym teacher shouted.
Gerard, my usual partner, was in the principal's office, so I paired up with a boy named Bob, who I think was like a year or so younger then myself. "Hey, Toro. Why are you suddenly talking to me?" Bob had tried to speak to me before, but I usually ignored him because I was with Gerard, and Gerard was a dick.
"Gerard isn't here." I said bluntly.
He frowned, "Alright. Grab a ball, and I'll find a place..." He said, scratching his neck.
I ran over to the balls, and grabbed a good one, before returning to Bob who was waiting by the edge of the field, closest to our watcher. Mikey Way.
I smiled a little and waved at him. He quirked his eyebrows a little and waved back, a goofy smile spreading across his face.
"Ray!" Bob shouted. I turned and then the ball hit me smack in the face. I groaned as I fell on my ass.
"Pay attention, Toro!" The teacher shouted as I hopped to my feet, picking up the ball, and throwing it back to Bob. Mikey was laughing extremely loudly over at the bench, and everyone was staring at him.
He stopped laughing and smiled awkwardly at everybody before falling into a daze like state. He kept watching me though.
I kept glancing over at Mikey every so often, and I got hit in the side of the face. "Ow! Bob!" I shouted.
Bob was just laughing.
I noticed Mikey shaking his head, and I blushed heavily.
He lay down on the bench, and after a few minutes, the period was over. I walked over to him, and he opened his eyes, "Ray, your massive fro is eating the sun."
I laughed a little, "Period's over, thought I would tell you before your next teacher thinks you're gone." I said, side stepping so that Mikey was flooded with light.
"Arrgh!" He shot into an upright position, and covered his eyes.
"You're a dork." I said, tugging him to his feet.
"Says the one who got hit in the face at least ten times today." He bit back.
"I saw something that I liked." I said giving Mikey the biggest, and goofiest grin that I could pull. He smiled back, and I spoke again, "You're cuter when you smile." I told him, only half way jokingly.
"You're cuter when your hair isn't blocking my light." He replied.
"You should probably get to class." I pointed out, crossing my arms and smirking a little at the boy in front of me.
"Right...." He muttered, grabbing his glasses, and putting them on. He began to walk to his next class, and I stayed right beside him. "Shouldn't you be picking on some helpless kid with my brother?" He asked me, sounding a little sarcastic.
"Gerard's in the principal's office." I responded., beginning to chew on my lip a little nervously. Gerard had practically given me permission, right?
"Are you... nervous?" Mikey began to laugh.
"No!" I said, a little to hastily.
He began to laugh harder, and then he tripped, bowling us both over, into a tangle of limbs, and blushing faces.
Mikey was blushing, and I'm sure that I looked ten times worse. "I'm so sorry!" He apologized, trying to stand up, with little progress.
Then Frank grabbed him by the back of his shirt, pulling him to his feet, and then he helped me up, "Are you two okay?" He asked, his voice a little laughing. Then he mouthed to Mikey, "I told you so."
I spun on my heels, "Later Mikey. I'll make sure that Gee doesn't bother you guys too much tonight!" I called as I ran off.
