I Believe We're the Enemy

Frank glanced at Gerard's hand before jamming his own hand into his pocket and pulling out a crumpled 5 dollar bill. He slapped it into Gerard's hand and muttered, "Thanks."
Gerard smirked as he stuffed the money inside his own pocket, "No problem." He watched as Frank walked away, dragging his shoes against the floor. Frank looked miserable. His shoulders were slouched, the bags underneath his eyes were dark.
Gerard frowned. He didn't want to admit that he felt bad for this guy, but he did. Gerard skipped alongside Frank, "What's your name, kid?"
Frank glanced at him, "Frank."
"My name's Gerard...what happened to you anyway?"
Frank stopped in the hallway, "Exactly what it looked like. Rogen stuffed me into the locker."
Gerard raised a brow, "Rogen? Ah, I remember him. He used picked on me last year."
Frank replied, "Really? How'd you make him stop?"
Gerard gave a sly smile, "Wouldn't you like to know." Gerard attempted to walk away playfully, but Frank grasped onto his shirt and reeled him back, "Yes." Frank pleaded, "I would,"
Gerard looked up at him. Both their eyes locked. Frank's eyes were filled with determination and hope while Gerard's eyes were filled with curiosity and jokes. Gerard can feel Frank's breath softly brushing against his cheek. Gerard broke out of the trance and pulled away from Frank's grasp, "Well," He added, not looking at Frank, "It'll cost you, kid."
Frank crossed his arms across his chest, "Why do I need to pay you for everything?"
Gerard grinned, "Gettin' sassy, huh? Well," Gerard placed a hand onto his waist and leaned to the side, "It needs to be a win-win for both of us, kid." He chuckled before walking further down the hall.
Frank almost smiled but it faded quickly. He called after Gerard, "You don't need to call me kid, y'know? I'm probably only one year younger than you!" Frank rolled his eyes before turning around and making his way to his class.
