Scream Your Heart Out

Fun Ghoul‘s POV
No matter how much Party was trying to calm me down, I just couldn’t bring myself to stop screaming in agony – the pain was just unbearable.

As Dr. D twisted my leg back into its right place I heard a loud crack, and I couldn’t hold in my shrieks and tears that now left my body. I felt like I was bleeding heavily, but I felt nothing wet on my leg – was it meant to feel like this?

Party gripped onto me a little tighter on my hand and waist as I tensed up, and I held onto his own hand as tight as I could to try and fight the pain away. It still hurt like a bitch though, and nobody could stop it this time.

As my screaming started to die down several minutes later, my body shook and trembled against Party’s body as I leant back against him, and my eyes stayed closed as I sobbed. I felt him bring me closer to him, and he buried his head in the crook of my neck as he hushed me quietly.

I opened my eyes as tears continued to fall and was met by an apologetic face in front of me, and I smiled as I gently patted his shoulder and sniffed a little.
“Thanks Dr. D,” I croaked, my voice didn’t sound too good after all that screaming...

“It’s alright Ghoul.” He replied, half smiling. “I’m sorry I had to hurt you like that.” He apologised, and I smiled back as I wiped my tears.
“Well, what else could you do?” I asked, resting my arms over the top of the ones that were keeping me against the softly breathing man behind me. I turned slightly to place a soft kiss on his forehead, and he raised his face to smile at me.

We all then turned to Kid after he had just cleared his throat, and he rubbed the back of his neck nervously as he spoke to the floor.

“I’m, uh... Sorry that happened, Ghoul... I didn’t know...” He trailed off, and I moved to try and stand, only to find that Party had beat me to it with his hand held out for my own. I rolled my eyes sarcastically and took it as we both smiled, and I slowly limped over to Kid before wrapping an arm on his shoulder and around his neck.
“It’s alright, I’ll live.” I said smiling, and he raised his head a little and smiled back in return. I then remembered that Kid had told me about Dr. D wanting to tell me something, and I removed my arm before turning to him – with a little help from Party, of course.

“So, what did you want to tell me D?” I asked, and he looked up at me with confusion written all over his face.
“Nothing,” He simply stated, and I lifted a hand to point at Kid with my thumb.
“But he said you did,” I replied, and we all turned to look at Kid again, but this time he was gone.

“Oookaayy...” I trailed off and furrowed my eyebrows together as I tried to think about why Kid had done that.
“I can go and speak to him, if you want me to.” Dr. D then said, and for a split second I thought that he was reading my mind. I nodded to him, and he started to leave the room as Party led me outside, with one of his arms snaked around my waist to reduce the weight on my legs, and the other held my wrist as I wrapped my arm loosely around the back of his neck.

As we walked past the bedroom I glanced in expecting to see Jet and Pony sprawled out across their beds, but when I leant to the side a little I couldn’t see them. “Where are Jet and Pony?” I asked, now stood straight again and looking up into the hazel eyes above me.
“They’ve gone to the gas station; the van needed more gas apparently.” He smiled to reassure me, and I smiled back as we started to walk again.
“How long have they been gone? Or when did they leave?” I wondered, remembering that they were here yesterday. Party chuckled, and I looked up at him confused.
“Are you asking like, 20 questions or something?” He laughed, and I frowned as I tried not to laugh. We were outside now, and he sat down against the outside wall of the Diner before pulling me down to fall onto his lap. I could feel a light blush come up on my cheeks, and Party just smiled before kissing my cheek.

“They left yesterday just before I went in to go and apologise to you.” He then said, and I nodded and wrapped my arms around his chest as I half hugged him. My head rested softly on his chest, and I could feel his arms wrap around my own body as I closed my eyes.

Jet Star’s POV
“Are we there yet?”

That question has been repeated so many times by the impatient teen sitting next to me in the passenger’s seat, and I was so close to snapping. Each time I would reply with an
‘almost’ or ‘we’re just an hour or two away’, but he still wouldn’t shut the hell up.

“Hey Jet?” Pony asked, his legs were raised up on the dashboard in front of him, and his arm was resting on the side of the door with his head in his hand. I sighed deeply before replying; I knew what was coming.

“What?” I asked as calmly as I could, but I couldn’t stop the little hint of annoyance in my voice.
“I’m hungry.” He simply said, and I sighed in relief as it was the first different sentence of the day. “Are we there yet?”

Snap.

“No! We aren’t there and we won’t be for a while! Geez, Pony! Stop moaning like a fucking three year old and sit quietly please!” I exclaimed, and I could roughly make out his hands rising into the air above his head a little through the darkness of my shades.
“Okay, okay...” He sighed, and I shook my head, taking a deep breath.
“I’m sorry, I hate long journeys...” I sighed too, and he nodded.
“Don’t we all... Hey, why don’t you pull over in a few minutes? There’s meant to be a bar somewhere along this road. We can, y’know, get some fresh air.” He explained, and I smiled.
“Sounds like a plan.”

Kid’s POV
I quickly left the room before running my hands through my hair in frustration, and I made my way outside and around the back of the Diner to sit on one of the many large boulders back there. Shit. I’ve gone and done it now; what am I going to say when Ghoul asks why I said what I did? Fucking hell... I sighed and lowered my head, closing my eyes in the process.

Why did I even say that Dr. D wanted to speak to him? Why didn’t I just say that I wanted to speak to him? Idiot!

I stood up and kicked a dusty rock as hard as I could, sending it across the sandy ground as it rolled and twisted from the impact. I then heard the sound of crumpling small stones around the corner of the Diner, and that always meant that someone was coming. I put my hands in my back pocket ready to grab my ray gun as the shadow of the figure appeared, but then relaxed when Dr. D came into view. I dropped my hand back down to my side, and looked up at his face to search for an expression on his worn face.

Confusion. Concern. Curiosity. Worry?

“Kid, what’s wrong?” He asked as I turned my back on him, and I just shook my head in reply. “Is this about Party? Or Ghoul?” He asked again, “Or them being together?”
“No.” I simply stated, because it wasn’t. Of course I didn’t really like the thought of them being together because of all the ‘cuteness’ between them from now on, but other than that I didn’t have a problem. I was also a little shocked when I had walked in on them sleeping together, because not only were they in bed together, but Party had never told me that he had felt this way about Ghoul. And he tells me everything... Or, at least he used to...

I heard the crumpling sound come closer behind me, and his voice began to sound clearer too as he wheeled around to the front of me.
“Then what’s wrong?” He repeated, “Why did you tell Ghoul I wanted to speak to him when I didn’t?” I looked down to the floor, and I knew I’d have to answer sooner or later. But... I didn’t know the answer to that question myself.
“I don’t know...” I sighed, walking over and sitting back down on the same boulder as before. I looked around at the open desert to try and take my mind off of some things, but, it is a desert after all; there’s nothing out there.

He started to move towards me again, but this time he didn’t come as close as before when he leant back in his wheelchair.
“There has to be something that’s not right with you; you’ve never lied to anyone before other than jokes... It wasn’t a joke, right?” He pondered, and I shook my head slowly in response. I then sighed, and he leant his head on his hand as I thought of what I could say.

“I-I guess... I’m just going to need some time to let their new relationship sink in... I mean; I’m Party’s brother, and he’s never even told me anything about how he’s felt about Ghoul at all? It doesn’t sound like he’s too sure about being with him...” I voiced my thoughts in a quiet voice, and then took a glance up at Dr. D to see if he had heard. I gathered that he did, because he was nodding a little when I looked up.

“I suppose that makes sense. You’re feeling a little... Disappointed? Maybe a little let down?” He asked to make sure, and I thought about it before nodding a little and running my hand through my blonde hair. “I see.” Was all he said before wheeling off back into the direction of the Diner.

“I’d talk to Party; sort things out so you two are alright with each other still.” Was the only other thing he said before disappearing around the corner of the Diner. I watched as he disappeared, and when he was out of sight I stood up slowly and started to follow; my feet
deliberately shuffling across the dirt and flicking any stones away in the process.

Jet Star’s POV
At least 5 hours had passed since we left the bar now, and I can proudly say that it did help with clearing my head and giving myself a break. Even Pony had begun to get quieter as the lack of sunlight produced a dark surrounding desert, and every now and again he would slowly fall asleep for a minute or two... Too bad he woke up.

“Urgh... Jet...?” He slurred, and I hummed back as my response; I couldn’t be bothered to speak since I was too tired to, and I didn’t want to get any more tired or else we’d be off the road. I glanced down at him through the corner of my eye and shades when he lifted his hands to rub at his eyes, and he then sat up properly in his seat looking around.

“Where are we?” He then asked, and I looked around for any road signs.
“Not sure, but I think we’re about half an hour away, so you might as well get some sleep.” I explained, and he nodded before taking off his seatbelt and moving to the back of the van.
“G’night then,” He yawned, “Just don’t fall asleep at the wheel? We’ve come too far to die now.” He smirked, and I rolled my eyes.
“I’m not that tired.” I stated, and he raised his eyebrows. “What? I’m used to staying up at night as a lookout while you stayed inside and got all the sleep you needed. I’m used to it.”

There was a silence after I had said that, so I guessed that he had fallen asleep. “Thank god...” I murmured under my breath when I heard him snore a little, and then I focused on the road for the rest of the journey.

The only things to cross my mind whilst I was driving was if Party had spoken to Ghoul or not, and if they were together now. I smiled at the thought of them being together – things would be a whole lot different, and in a good way too. Both would be happier to have each other, and if I have to admit it, they would be kind of cute together too. I tried shaking the thought from my head though, just in case they weren’t together and everything had suddenly turned awkward back at the Diner.

Before I knew it we were only a couple of minutes away from the gas station, but as I drove closer I switched the headlights off when I noticed other cars, and I had to lean forward a little and squint my eyes to try and see through the darkness when I stopped the van.

I could make out a couple of white figures walking around the place with white items in their hands, and I automatically knew what they were.

“Psst, Pony! Wake up!” I sort of hissed as I got into the back, and I shook him a little as he started to stir.
“Mmmhh... Five more minutes...” Was all he murmured back, and I was about to shake him harder when I heard small banging noises on the other side of the back doors. He then shot up and looked at me, and I shrugged before taking out my own gun. I cautiously crept to one of the doors whilst Pony did the same for the other, and when his gun was in his hands too he nodded at me, and we both pushed the doors open and pointed our guns at whoever or whatever it was making the noises. We were frozen when we saw what the cause was.
