No Coffee For Gee ~ Discontinued!
13
Frankie ran out of Gee's room, tears streaming down his face as Donna called after him. Gee wanted to die.. He wanted to leave Frankie alone, and Frankie couldn't handle that.
Running through door after door, and down several flights of stairs, Frankie rushed outside into the early afternoon sunshine, and off down the street.
Frankie didn't know his way around the New York streets, but he'd seen a park on the drive to the hospital, just a couple blocks away, and that was where he was headed.
As his lungs started to burn, and the park gates came into view, Frankie's phone began to persistently ring in his pocket. He ignored it, running through the gates and into a small stand of trees on the left, then collapsed to his knees, and threw up in the long grass.
As he finished emptying his stomach of the pancakes his mother had made him for breakfast, Frankie sat back on his heels, trembling slightly and hugging himself as tears soaked his pale cheeks. After a couple minutes, he crawled out of the tree line and back into the sun.
Frankie collapsed onto his back in the grass and stared though tear-blurred eyes at the white fluffy clouds that slowly drifted through the bright blue sky above. He saw shapes in the clouds, and was reminded of all the times he'd cloud-watched with Gee. Would he ever get to do that again? Or watch stupid movies? Or laugh at Gee's lame jokes?.. Or hold him when he cries?
Gee didn't want to be alive, and by extension, didn't want to be with Frankie.. and Frankie was pretty sure that if Gee went, he wouldn't be far behind.
The sound of young laughter caught Frankie's attention, and he turned his head toward the noise.
There was a children's playground a few meters away, and two small boys were chasing each other around, happily giggling while their mothers watched on from a bench nearby. One of the boys, who had longish dark hair that was devastatingly similar to Gee's, tripped over his feet as he chased his little friend, and face planted in the bark-covered ground. The other boy was instantly at his side, pulling him into a hug and wiping away those first few tears.
Frankie had to look away then. It was all to familiar, and memories of Gee and him at the park played like a movie reel in his head.
His cellphone rang again. What was that, like the 15th time now?
Frankie dug it from his pocket and looked at the screen as it rung in his hand.. Donna!.. He let it ring out, and saw that he had 14 missed calls and 7 texts, ALL from Donna's phone. 6 of the missed calls had gone to voicemail.
He read the texts, starting with the first.
"Frankie it's Donna. Answer your phone please."
"Where are you Frankie?"
"We're worried Frankie, please answer"
"Frank Iero, answer me"
"Please Frankie. Gee needs you".. Huh!.. Low blow!
"Frankie just let me know you're ok"
"Please Frankie"
He decided not to listen to the voicemails, as he knew they'd me basically the same thing. Instead, he sent back a short text to Donna's cell.
"Hi Donna. I'm ok. Be back in a bit, Frnkxo"
Then he turned off his phone, slipped it back in his pocket, and lay back in the warm grass, hands behind his head and his eyes closed. He just needed some time to get his head around the fact that Gee, his best friend, the love of his fucking life, (though he could never tell him that) wanted to die, and there wasn't anything he could think of that might change his mind.
He COULDN'T get his head around that, cos it was just too horrible. He couldn't lose Gee.. He HAD to do something.. But what?...
