Defying Death
Chapter 1
Here we are out in the heat. I’m getting way too old for this. Though for a man of my age, I think I can still kick some decent ass. I remember when I dreamed of living in the wilderness one day… this was not what I had in mind. All these damn desserts that cover all the godforsaken land we took for granted. I always wanted to live in the woods, however, few are left. I wish I could take Bandit on a good old fashioned Camping trip, not one where we have the risk of getting murdered by a radioactive chipmunk.
We have to move quickly from safe house to safe house to send transmissions to our small units of Killjoys located all over the globe. We are planning a few small take downs of United World of Production (UWP for short), the company that runs and owns this new world. We have become the voices and faces of our “Killjoy Nation”.
It’s very real and very scary for me to be living as a character I created for an album and comic book that came out over 10 years ago. On the brightside I’m not dead yet like I would’ve been in the comic book. I’m also fortunate to be surrounded by my daughter, my brother, and the people who have become my family. Frank and Ray have always been like my brothers and Rosalyn has become a strong female role model for my daughter, even though she’s not too much older.
I do fear for my companions though, Frank and Rosalyn are both fueled by an awful vengeance. They both lost almost everything. I stopped Frank from ending it all by trying to bring him into the light. Frank is very stubborn though. At least he's fighting for a cause. Ray brought Rosalyn to the refugee camp after he found her mourning the loss of her only family, her son. She and Bandit bonded instantly both having lost mothers to a horrible virus at a young age.
Bandit and Rosalyn took on our nomad life style of ours after a year sitting in the refugee camp with Ray’s wife and son. We gave Bandit the “Killjoy” name of “Sky Walker” because we used to play “Star Wars” when she was a child and she’ll call me Obiwan or Jedi Master so we thought “Sky Walker” fit, she seems to like it. (I’m relieved she’s a bit of a nerd) Rosalyn became “Red Ivy” because her red hair and her love of plants, much like Poison Ivy from “Batman”.
It’s not an easy or safe life for us. We are often faced with many obstacles. Drones are constantly looking for us. We are lucky to have prototype technology developed by some of our fellow Killjoys who use to work for governments and software companies. We have a shielding device to hide our heat signatures; we have a “kill device” that shuts all electronics within a mile. We can go pretty unnoticed for a good long time.
We occasionally have to camp out in the desert, but you get use to refried beans in a can and bottled water. We are also very good at making to all Killjoy Camps on time. Especially for some of us being pretty stinking old.
Notes
I hope you enjoyed the introduction into "Death Defying". I do apologize for the grammatical errors... it's not one of my strong points. If something is really off let me know and I'll edit... it wrote this chapter in only a couple hours.. and I really wanted to get it up.
Thanks for tuning in Fellow Killjoys.

PS Please don't kill me for killing off family of certain characters,,,, believe me it was a hard decision but in this story I think it will make for more intense characters.
