Game Over

I needed to get out of here, fast. The guys would be at the Game Booth in a few minutes and here I was with Mom, getting groceries. I think my mother was the only one who shopped for groceries as soon as the grocery store opens.
"Mom," I said slowly, shaking from the cold released in the frozen food section.
"Yes, honey?," she asked, turning to look at me.
"I need to go. Game. Booth," I said, stuffing my hands into the pocket of my jacket. Jeez, the air conditioning was surely cranked up here.
"Oh my god! I nearly forgot your little video game!," Mom exclaimed, dropping the frozen salmon she was holding. She dashed to the counter and paid for the groceries before heading to the car. The Game Booth was only a block away, and if I sprinted, I'd get there in time. I was running across the car park when Mom shouted, "Have fun, Gerard!"
Fun? Of course, Mother Dear.

Bob and Ray were already behind the Game Booth when I sprinted around the corner, snowflakes resting in Ray's fro. Mikey sauntered up the street, muffin in hand. My stomach grumbled while I stared at the home-baked good.
"Where's Frank?," Mikey asked, munching on the muffin.
"Mr. Latey-Late as usual, Unicorn Boy," Bob said, nodding at Mikey's 'I Love Unicorns!' shirt. He zipped up his jacket as his face turned redder by the minute. Frank sprinted towards us, almost crashing into Ray.
"What happened to six am, Iero?," Ray asked, steadying Frank.
"I'm sorry! I woke up at five and got ready, but then my dog peed all over my-" his explaination was cut short by the creaking of the Game Booth's back door. Frank's cousin, Jamie, looked at us.
"Come on, you guys," he whispered, motioning at us with two fingers. We ran inside the store and straight towards the New Arrivals rack. There, nestled between Bioshock Infinite and Call Of Duty, was the legendary Death Chambers 2. They were the popular game that had the power to fascinate the minds of teenagers across the world. They were hard to get. Luckily, Frank's cousin Jamie worked here and he managed to exchange four Death Chambers 2 for an old motorbike Jamie wanted badly. We took four games and stashed it into the bag Frank had brought along.
"So, the motorbike in your garage?," Jamie asked, making sure he got his part of the deal.
"Yup, birdbrain, you thought I forgot?," Frank smiled. He might be the Little Gangster of our gang, but he never backs out on a deal.
"I'll pick it up after work, squirt," Jamie laughed as he led us out the back door. After we got back out into the December snow, we did a little jig. The almost impossible to get, fawned over by teenagers, Death Chamber 2, was ours! After a few minutes, the dancing stopped and we smiled at each other.
"On as soon as we get back?," Ray asked. We all nodded, staring at the bag. Breakfast would have to wait. Except for Mikey, of course, who at the whole muffin even before Frank got here. As we walked to the front, we noticed a few teenagers already lining up.
"They weren't the first to get these babies," Frank snorted, shaking his bag. We stuffed the games in our jacket behind a tree when we got to our neighbourhood before splitting up to go home. Christmas came early this year, I thought, rubbing my palms together.

This story was idea I got after reading a book from the Daniel X series and reading up Bioshock and Lollipop Chainsaw on the Net. So, there you have it, this story's inspiration! I'll shed some light on Death Chambers 2's gameplay in the next chapter so my amazing readers won't be confused when the boys are.... ahh, you guys'll get there. Hope you guys like it!
