The New Kid

Perry watched as Zach taught Frank how to skateboard Everyone was laughing and passing cigarettes and beer bottles around. There was something about his wobbling on Zach's board and him holding on tightly to Zach's shirt that made her breath quicken. "You're a fast learner, Frank!," Zach laughed, climbing up beside Tessa. Frank smiled shyly and climbed up beside Perry. "What did you think, Perry?," he asked, nudging her shoulder. "You'll be picking up some tricks in no time," she smiled. "Why don't you show Mr. Iero some of your moves, Junior Hawk?," George laughed at the horrible nickname they gave her two years ago. "Okay, okay, I will. And STOP calling me Junior Hawk. Its stupid," Perry groaned, wrinkling her nose. "Ju-Junior Ha-Hawk," Bobbie whispered to Tessa, the beer slurring her words. In a few minutes, Perry managed to do two ollies, three frontside 180s and a nollie. They all clapped loudly and gave her pats on her back. "You'll learn from her," Tessa nodded at Frank. "I'd happily do so, Junior Hawk," he smiled as Perry blushed. Her phone bleeped noisily in her breast pocket. "Shit. My mom's coming back in about half an hour and she'll kill me if I'm not there," she frowned and slipped her backpack on. Frank stood up and said, "I'll walk you home." --- "So apart from your mom, who do you live with?," he asked, holding her outstretched arm as he wobbled on her skateboard. "Nobody. When my mom's at work, I'm all alone, so the gang hang out a lot at my place," Perry shrugged. "Aww, that must suck. I mean, having no one around to talk to," Frank said. "Nah, I like being alone sometimes. Wallowing after a sad movie, sulking after a fight with my mom, smoking-Hey!," she shouted as Frank fell, pulling and tearing her shirt sleeve a little. He fell and groaned in pain. Perry helped him up and he stared at her wrist. "What's that?," Frank asked softly. She looked at her wrist and saw the scars on them. "Nothing. I have to go," she said quickly, picking up her board. "Hey, wait up!," Frank shouted but Perry kept walking faster. Her little secret was out, and Frank Iero was the last person she needed to know about problems.
