The New Kid

Perry chewed on a wad gum, trying to hide the cigarette smoke from her mouth.
"Bobbie! Get out or we'll be late!," she shouted, banging on the cubicle door.
It bounced open and Bobbie faced her, cigarette in her mouth.
"You, get to class on time?," she laughed, throwing the cigarette in the toilet bowl.
Perry rolled her eyes and straightened her tie. It was the first day of school, and she couldn't afford detention. Not after her parents almost took away her cell phone. She dragged Bobbie into homeroom and pushed her into her seat.
"Whoa, slow down, boy," Bobbie gasped, clutching onto the table. George laughed and crinkled up his nose.
"What are we doing after school?," Perry asked Zach.
"Well, we could-" His words were cut short by the sound of Mr. Hopper walking in with a boy.
"Kids, settle down! Miss Mathews, straighten your tie! Sit down, Mr. Lerman!," he shouted. "This is the new boy, Frank Iero. He'll be joining class, and I want him to be treated well. Deal?," he asked, looking at Perry, Zach, George, Tessa and Bobbie in the back. He continued blabbering, but Perry's eyes were fixed on Frank. He stared back. And by the she knew, Frank Iero was a keeper.
