Blood and Love

Chapter Four

*Gerard's POV* Nikki wasn't entirely what I expected her to be. I thought she'd be more like Amy, except less talkative. I thought Amy was exaggerating when she said she didn't talk much. But this was real. This was the real Nikole Jacklynn Lee. I didn't know if I wanted her to live with us. Honestly, she seemed nice. But it wasn't that. It was that I didn't know her, and I had a feeling I wouldn't get to know her. She was too quiet. Maybe Red and Frank could break her out of her shell. That way I could talk to her without one or two word answers. That seemed like a good idea. Just make Red and Frank do it. "Are we ready to leave?" Frank asked the three of us. Wow. That was gonna take a lot of getting used to. The four of us. Since Mikey moved out, it's been the three of us. Now we have a human living with us. It's good that we have self-control around humans now. If not, we'd have a huge fight, like Red, Mikey, and I on our first week. I have no idea how any of us thought Frank was a human. But I know Red's mental controversy was quite unbearable. I mean the constant "Should I Gerard?". That was beyond annoying. "I am. I want to help Nikki unpack to see what kind of clothes she wears." Red replied creepily. Frank just stared, and Nikki let out a loud laugh. I guess she had a sense of humor, like Amy. But I thought it was weird of Red to say that. "What? I want to see if we have a similar taste in clothing. It's chick stuff. You'l understand when you're a girl living with two guys." I shrugged. She had a point. There wasn't really anybody for Red. She had Amy, but Amy can't be over very often due to work and her husband. Red has to be the woman of the house. So I guess it would be hard. "You have a point. Well, I'm pretty sure you and Nikki can go through her clothes. Maybe you guys can go shopping together. Someone has a $500 Hot Topic gift card that her sister gave her. Maybe you can use. That sound cool, Nik?" Amy asked. Nikki nodded, and smiled kindly. I began to think of what possibly could have scarred this girl so bad, she wouldn't talk. I guess it's just best not to know. "Well, we best be getting on our way. Do you want to meet up in a few weeks to hang out again? I'm sure Nikki will want to." Red asked. Me and Frank headed to our car while Red and Amy planned. "Do you think Nikki is anything like Red used to be? Like with the self-harm and all that?" Frank asked, catching me off guard. I couldn't answer right away. "I have no idea. I'm pretty sure that if that ever happened, Amy would straighten it out right away. She is a pretty strong person. I honestly think that it's better not to know." I finally settled. He nodded. "I really hope that Amy is not expecting us to fall in love. I'm better off without it." "Dude, not all girls are like Lindsey. Get over it. She was using you, so what?" Frank burst. I looked at the ground. I remember it all. I felt like Lindsey was using me before she even cheated on me. But I never said a word, and that was my mistake. "I'm sorry. It's just really stupid of you to turn down someone because of some chick. You really need to look at her, and maybe get to know her before you rule her out." We both got in the car. "What are you guys talking about?" Red said, getting in the car. "Oh, nothing. We were just being guys. You know." Frank covered. That was what I liked about Frank. He's not afraid of my sister, and he treats her even better than I did. And that says a lot. "So, are we able to ask questions, or do you want to just hang out?" he asked Nikki. "You can ask questions." she replied, kind of weakly. "So, how old were you when Amy was changed?" Red asked. "Seventeen." "Is it weird living with her husband there?" "No. He's like a brother." She giggled this time. She wasn't a depressed person. Just not talkative. I liked that, I guess. "Are you excited for a change of scenery?" I asked her this time. "Sure." she laughed. I smiled, and looked at her closely. She was really pretty. Like, seriously pretty. I couldn't believe I- That's enough, Gerard. I told myself. She looked back at me with a half-smile. We weren't going to be that way. Nope. not in love or anything. Just friends. "Gerard, we're all ready for a change in scenery. Cuz the only other girl is your stupid dog, Olivia." Red complained. That was offensive. "I am so offended! Olivia is the cutest dog ever." I retorted. Red rolled her eyes, and I gave her my best mad face. I didn't talk to Red the rest of the car ride, and she was perfectly okay with that. So the whole time I stared out the window while she talked to Nikki. I was secretly listening, though I really shouldn't have been. We have a little more in common than I thought. Maybe they were right... Or they weren't. Sometimes people seem like they would be like you. But they end up being the oppsite. Yeah, like Lindsey, if that was what you were thinking. I know I can't forgive Lindsey. But what if every girl is like her. She was just proud to have a boyfriend, and she wasn't in love with me, like I was with her. I don't think I can ever recover from that. Or maybe Nikki isn't like that.
