Tell Me I'm An Angel

Chapter 21

Gerard's P.O.V

Time Lapse>>>>>>>>>>

One month later.

I frown as Mrs Harper asks what songs I've picked for the regionals next week. I've been so preoccupied. With Frank mainly.
"You said three right?" I asked.
"Of course." She answered, simply.
Damn. I have to think. Which three.
"I think 'I'm Not Okay' to start. It'll reel em in." Frank suggested.
"So the tie breaker should be 'Welcome To The Black Parade'" I muttered.
Everyone frowned. "We've not heard that one." Mrs Harper said.
"I only wrote it a couple of weeks ago." I stated.
"Will you sing it for us after you tell us your winning song?" She asked.
I smile. "Sure." I think I can work out my last song. "Maybe 'Desolation Row' for the winning one."
Again Mrs Harper frowned. "We haven't heard that one either." She writes the song choices down. Then looks back up at me. "What are those two songs about?"
"Black parade is death. Desolation row I guess is violence." I answer as simply as I can.
"Can you sing 'Desolation Row' first then?"
"Sure." I smile at her.
The guys, including Frank, follow me on stage. After I spend some time on explaining what they needed to do, I turned to the mic. The beat started up and I was in the zone.
"They're selling postcards of the hanging,
Well they're painting the passports brown,
And the beauty parlor's filled with sailors,
The circus is in town.

Oh now look here comes the blind commissioner,
Well they got him in a trance,
One hand is tied to the tight-rope walker,
The other's in his pants.

And the riot squad they're restless,
They need somewhere to go,
As lady and I look out tonight,
From Desolation Row.

Cinderella, she seems so easy,
"Well it takes one to know one," she smiles,
And she puts her hands in her back pockets,
Oh Bette Davis style.

And here comes Romeo, moaning,
"You belong to me I believe"
And someone says, "You're in the wrong place, my friend
You better leave"

After then the only sound that's left,
After the ambulances go,
Is Cinderalla sweeping up" I do a sweeping movement with my left hand.
"On Desolation Row."
I scream pretty loud as a music interval kicks in.

"Now at midnight all the agents,
And superhuman crew,
Go out and round up everyone,
That knows more than they do."
The guys: "Knows more than they do."

"They're gonna bring 'em to the factory,
Where the heart-attack machine,
Is strapped across their shoulders,
And then the kerosene.

Is brought down from the castles,
By insurance men who go,
Check to see that no one is escaping,
To Desolation Row.

'Cause right now I can't read too good,
Don't send me no letters no,
Not unless you're gonna mail them,
From Desolation Row."

I wait till near the very last music note then scream again. I look at Mrs Harper. She looks stunned.
"My god, Gerard." She says finally. "You have a hell of a set of lungs on you."
I frown. "Err...thanks?"
She laughs. "I meant that in a good way." She looked at Mikey. "Do you not sing?"
Mikey shakes his head. "I'm not a good singer."
I scoff at that. "Mikey doesn't realise how talented he really is." I tell Mrs Harper. "He's a brilliant singer."
Mrs Harper smiled. "Could I hear the other song now, please?"
I turned to the guys and prepped them. Here goes. I think as I turn back to the mic.
"When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city,
To see a marching band.

He said, 'Son when you grow up,
Would you be the saviour of the broken,
The beaten and the damned?'
He said, 'Will you defeat them,
Your demons, and all the non-believers,
The plans that they have made?
Because one day I'll leave you,
A phantom to lead you in the summer,
To join the black parade.'

When I was a young boy,
My father took me into the city,
To see a marching band.
He said, 'Son when you grow up,
Would you be the saviour of the broken,
The beaten and the damned?'

Sometimes I get the feeling she's watching over me,
And other times I feel like I should go,
And through it all, the rise and fall, the bodies in the streets,
And when you're gone we want you all to know,

we'll carry on,
We'll carry on,
And though you're dead and gone believe me,
Your memory will carry on,
We'll carry on,
And in my heart I can't contain it,
The anthem won't explain it.

A world that sends you reeling from decimated dreams,
Your misery and hate will kill us all,
So paint it black and take it back,
Let's shout it loud and clear,
Defiant to the end we hear the call.

To carry on,
We'll carry on,
And though you're dead and gone believe me,
Your memory will carry on,
We'll carry on,
And though you're broken and defeated,
Your weary widow marchez

On and on we carry through the fears,
Ooh oh ohhhh,
Disappointed faces of your peers,
Ooh oh ohhhh,
Take a look at me cause I could not care at all.

Do or die, you'll never make me,
Because the world will never take my heart,
Go and try, you'll never break me,
We want it all, we wanna play this part,
I won't explain or say I'm sorry,
I'm unashamed, I'm gonna show my scar,
Give a cheer for all the broken,
Listen here, because it's who we are,
I'm just a man, I'm not a hero,
I! Don't! Care!

We'll carry on,
We'll carry on,
And though your dead and gone believe me,
Your memory will carry on,
We'll carry on,
And though your broken and defeated,
Your weary widow marches on.

Do or die, you'll never make me,
Because the world will never take my heart,
Go and try, you'll never break me,
We want it all, we wanna play this part."
The guys:"We'll carry on."

"Do or die, you'll never make me." Guys:"We'll carry on."
"Because the world will never take my heart." Guys:"We'll carry on."
"Go and try, you'll never break me." Guys: "We'll carry on."
"We want it all, we wanna play this part." All of us:"We'll carry onnnnn."

I looked back at Mrs Harper. The room had filled out. Mr Matthews was there too. Everyone cheered.
"Amazing." Mr Matthews shouted.
I looked at Frank. He smiled at me. I felt my face heat up. I smiled back.
"Your gonna win hands down." Mrs Harper statex

Notes

If you play the songs whilst reading them, it adds to the whole story experience. Look at me trying to sound smart. Fail. Lol.xxx

If you ever need to talk, just pm me. Sounds like we both have it rough. Hope things get better for you too. xxx

@PartyPoisonlives4ever
Grandma is slowly dying and 4 hrs away. My bipolar in the "down" position. My health issues, marriage, injuries and the fact that the thing I loved more than life itself - playing music- was taken away is finally caused me to break down. I think my sister is avoiding me. My only nephew is way too far to see. He's already 2. :/ Wed is the 3 yr anniversary of the death of my best friend's husband. Other than that, peachy.

Hope things get better for you soon. Depression stinks but glad they caught it.

@Sharpest_Life_B
Just found out I may have depression. A friend just died. Daughter got attacked at school. So I'm fine. Lol.
I hate my life right now.
How are you?
