Big Plans.

It was coming up to the end of the month, which also meant it was coming up to Franks birthday. The last couple of weeks passed with him and Frank making small talk every now and then, but it was clear to me, he was still hurt. I just wish I could figure out why.
I have plans to run past the rest of the guys, I’m willing to try anything to be friends with Frank properly again, and making his birthday as special as I could. It just hurt so much knowing I had done something wrong, I just want to make it right.
I remember him mentioning how he’s never been camping, and how he’d love to go, in a forest somewhere. Now not too far from here there is a perfect spot to do so. Just a case of convincing every one else.
I walk up the stairs to see everyone but Frank, it’s a Friday night, but his parents have dragged him to some family event, so I asked everyone to come over, to speak to them.
“Hey guys” I say, excited to voice my plans. They all just mumbled, eyes fixed on the TV. I roll my eyes, and make my way over to the damned box, switching it off at the wall. That earned some evil glances. “Guys, we have more important things to do than sit here and watch TV.”
“Like what?” Bob asks confused.
“Well Franks birthday is next weekend…”
“But you two don’t even like each other why do you care.” Ray says.
“It’s not that I don’t like him, it’s that he’s pissed off at me, for something I don’t know, but I want to make it better. Which is why I want to arrange something for him.”
“What kind of thing?” Mikey asks, curiosity filling his voice
“He’s never been camping.”
“Gee, I refuse to go on one of your crazy camping trips.” Mikey sighs.
“No, not like that, not to go get pissed, maybe a few beers, but not like them. You know, the kind of camping trip where we make S’mores, tell ghost stories, that kind of thing. We already have enough tents so that’s not an issue. All we need is a way to lure Frank into the woods. Oh that sounds creepy oh my word. Well and time to set everything up.” I explain. I don’t want Franks birthday to end up like Pete’s party, him drunk and kissing me, then pissed of when I try to save my own heart from breaking.
“I like it, seriously I think he’ll love it.” Bob says, and the others agree.
“So how about me and Mikey go and set everything up during the day, well if you don’t mind bunking off school with me. Ray and Bob you lead him to where we’re going after school, I’ll give you directions in a bit I already found the perfect spot for us to go.”
They all agree with what I’ve said and we start to discuss the small details. Mikey suggests taking a barbeque as well, with Frank being a vegetarian we agreed that we would all eat veggie ‘meat’ and gelatine free marshmallows for the S’mores.
“We’ve got a week to get everything sorted, we all know what we got to do right?” I ask and everyone nods, letting me know that my plan was set.

The whole week goes as planned, and on Friday we ditch school. We as in Mikey and I. I text Frank.

To Frank: Happy Birthday Frankie. xXx
From Frank: Thanks.

He probably only replied to be polite, he still is pissed off at me. Well hopefully not for much longer. I hate the fact that I still have feelings for him when he won’t even talk to me properly.
I text Ray to see if him and Bob had spoken to Frank yet about tonight.

To Ray: You seen Frank yet?

He takes a while to reply. Whilst I wait for said reply Mikey and I look around the supermarket for various veggie ‘meat’ and other things that we need tonight.

From Ray: All set. He doesn’t know where we’re going but he’s willing to come with us. I contacted his parents you just need to go pick up his stuff. They’ve packed for you.
To Ray: Ok thank you. See you later.

With that sorted the main part of the plan is set up. Even if some of the other stuff goes wrong at least we’ll still have the main concept of this plan. The camping.
Now that we have finished our shopping, a few people asking ‘aren’t you meant to be in school?’ and us just pretending not to know what they meant. We made our way back home to grab everything we need.

On our way to the forest we stop by Franks to grab his stuff. His mum is in, I’ve personally never met her, but the others have.
“Shouldn’t you be in school guys?” She asks as we get there.
“One day won’t hurt, we just wanted to make sure Frank’s birthday was special.” I say, speaking shyly.
“Well I’m glad my son has made such nice friends. Now try not to get in to much trouble tonight boys.”
“We won’t ma’am.” Mikey promises. Not that we can really guarantee that, but of course we’re not going to tell her that.

We get to the forest with plenty of time to set up.
First we put up the tents, setting them all up in a circle with plenty of room in the middle.
Next we find some large logs, so that we have something to sit on whilst we eat and stuff. We get some sticks ready to set up a fire and set up where the bbq will go.
By the time everything is set up we have half an hour till they get here. Half an hour to think about all the possibilities of Franks reaction.
