"So.... am I living with you now? You can kick me out I don't have to stay its totally your choice if you want to kick me out that's okay I just need somewhere to stay so I don't end up in the pound again that was-"
"FRANK!" I had to shout over his rambling. He looked up from his cup and gave me a sorry look. "wait... pound?"
"Yeah.... before you picked me up I had just run from a dog catcher. I've been in the pound twice. There's also been other people like you who find me and try to pick me up, but I run every time" he chuckled at his memory and I couldn't help but laugh a little too.
"Why didn't you run from me?"
His face turned red and he looked down at his coffee, avoiding my gaze. After a moment he didn't answer, so I had to repeat the question. He bit his lip and looked up at me. "I don't know, you just seamed different" I nodded at his response and took a sip of my coffee.
"So how did you become a dog.... like how does it work?" I asked. His eyes got wide and he got this crazy look on his face. The smirk he wore grew large and his eyes began to sparkle. Something about that look sent shivers down my spine. "magic" he whispered. I had already assumed it was magic by now. How else do you turn into a dog every night at the same time?
"But.... why?" I leaned in and set my mug on the table. He sat across from me in his own chair. We had gone out to a diner for coffee after breakfast. I honestly needed fresh air and he didn't have anywhere else to go.... so we ended up here.
"You're gonna think I'm crazy"
"And you being a dog isn't crazy enough? C'mon, give me all you got" I tilted my head up and smiled at him. He huffed and shook his head a little bit, laughing to himself. "I had this ex-girlfriend a few weeks back. I was working at a bar and one night I took this guy home cause he was so drunk. Anyways, I take him to his house and things happened. Jamia- my ex-girlfriend- found out I slept with him and got passed. She cast a spell on me and now...... I'm a dog at night"
"That doesn't make sense though" I shook my head. I had so many questions. "She cast a spell?"
"yeah..... turns out she was a witch and she's part of some coven. Ive learned my lesson though, don't pies off a witch."
"So..... you haven't been a dog for long?"
"Nope"
I sighed and sunk into my seat. This was a lot to take in. Not only was he a dog, but witches were real. Well, this defiantly gave me something to be worried about at night. I felt like my head was spinning. "Why only have you be a dog at night? Why not just make you a permanent dog?"
"I believe her exact word were 'this way no one will love you. Nobody wants to fuck a dog"' His body tensed as he spoke. I saw him wipe away a tear and I realized he was crying. I got up from my seat and sat next to him in his booth. I wrapped my arms around him and let him lean into my chest as he cried. I could tell he was trying his hardest to hold it back. I wanted to say something to make him feel like he wasn't alone, but I could form no words. How could she do that to him? Sure he cheated... but he didn't deserve this. Someone would love him. Someone would even fuck him. I didn't know who, but I knew someone would. He was a good looking guy, someone would be with him. Hell, I would if the circumstances were different. Well.... maybe. I didn't know. I had to sort out what I thought. But I would do that later. Right now, I was busy holding my sobbing human-dog.
"Frank?"
"Yeah?"
"You can stay with me"
"What?"
"The answer to your question...... You can stay with me"
"Oh thank you, Gee!" He hugged me tighter and I hugged back. Gee? He called Gee. How cute was that! No.... not cute. Fuck I didn't know anymore.
After paying for the coffee, we left the diner and headed back to my apartment. We walked in silence for a long time until he spoke up.
"Hey Gee?"
"Yeah?"
"W-were you hard this morning when you woke up?" He sounded a little bit embarrassed, yet a bit cocky too. He knew perfectly well what he didn't me. It wasn't my fault though! He was naked on me!
"No. We don't talk about that and your not sleeping with me anymore" I snapped and sped my pace up.
"I'm sorry'' He mumbled. I looked back at him, he was a few places back and I suddenly felt bad.
"No, I'm sorry, its just..." oh god I felt so awkward. "I don't swing that way anymore, plus I have a girlfriend. My face turned red as I studied him carefully. He looked down at the ground as he walked. I could see his shoulder-length black hair fluttering about n the wind a little and I wanted to push it from his face. No, I really wanted to. I could feel my fingers tingling and I bit my lip back. I changed my thoughts and tried to fish my keys from my pockets as we approached my apartment building.
