You found Me
Prologue
I don't know what it was about him that made me trust him so easily. Maybe it was his dark hazel eyes, his charming smile, or maybe the way his face fell when he told me my two best friends had been killed. That the mysterious gunman had tried to kill me too. I know it sounds like an impossible story, but there was something about him that just made me believe every word he spoke.
He took my hand and held it till I got better. He wrapped his arms around me, carried me to safety. We ran away. Away from the shitty lives we apparently had, away from the gunman who was still running free.
I remember pulling into the massive driveway, the long road leading us to our new home. Trees arching over us, the mild fog winding round us. He stopped the car in front of this massive mansion looking house, I didn't believe him when he said this was our new home. This, massive mansion house was my new home. Our new home. It was freezing when I climbed out the car, I could see my breathe swirling around, blending in with the fog. He pulled me towards the double front doors, and unlocked them with a rather beautiful key. He tugged me inside and instantly the warmth enveloped me.
The twisting staircase was wide and golden, paintings of the hills and fields surrounding the grounds hung on the walls, the wooden floor, covered in long, glamorous rugs.
He took care of me, treated me like a Queen, and he was my King. We ran through the corridors, singing at the top of our lungs. We danced in the rain, the lush green grass staining our feet. He made me feel so normal in such an impossible lifestyle. Who would have thought, a small town girl, living in this glorious home with such a kind-hearted, caring guy. He was my world, my everything, and I was his.
I trusted him, I let him take me away, I believed every word he said. Until some, almost forgotten friends showed up and told me differently to what he had said.
