Demolition Lovers.
Chapter One.
I got in from school and sighed. My first guitar lesson was starting in an hour. I went upstairs to get my guitar. My parents were out on business trips so I had to walk. They're always away with work. They don't have time for each other, or for me. Work, apparently is much more important than family. I stared in the mirror and realised what a mess I looked. I scowled at my reflection and grabbed the piece of paper that advertised the guitar lessons from my desk. The location was quite a while away so I'd have to walk if I wanted to be there on time. Taking up the guitar was my idea, sort of. My parents were moaning that on top of all my school work I needed to take up an instrument. They had the violin, or the piano in mind. I couldn't care less so I chose a random instrument. Guitar seemed better than the violin. I put the guitar in its case and left the house, slamming the door. By the time I got to the address I was 5 minutes late. I would've been quicker if I didn't have this stupid guitar with me, I thought to myself. In spite of my anger I continued to walk up to the house, and knocked on the door confidently. A man with long black greasy hair and smudged eyeliner opened the door nervously. He didn't look much older than me. He looked like he had only just left school.
"Are you Frank Iero?" He asked. I nodded, confirming it was me and followed him into the dimly lit house. My mother had rang beforehand to sort out the lessons so he knew my name.
"I'm Gerard Way" he announced. I nodded, uninterested. I sat down and pulled the guitar out of its case. It was an acoustic. He sat opposite me and brought over an expensive looking electric guitar. It was black and was much superior to mine. He plugged it into the amp and cleared his throat.
"We will begin by learning basic chords." So I nodded and the guitar lesson began. It wasn't as bad as I expected it to be, and I was surprised at how much I learnt. By the end of the lesson not only had I learnt guitar chords and how to play Nirvanas 'Come As You Are' but he had given me a list of bands to listen to, as well. The list included Misfits, The Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day and Black Flag. He had shown me Green Days 'Dookie' album which was brilliant. As the guitar lesson came to an end he handed me a piece of paper with a number scrawled on it.
"Here. If you need anything you can text me. Other than that, just keep practising!" He smiled. I realised that I had never seen him smile before. He looked quite beautiful, in a strange way. It lit up his features and made him look mysterious. I waved and he closed the door behind me. I walked down the street and as I turned back to glance at the house, I could see a curtain twitch and a flash of black. Grinning to myself, I continued on my journey home.
