It's Not Love If It's Just Fucking

Chapter 4- The Light Behind Your Eyes

Gerard's P.O.V

I head for the elevator. Once there I press the call button. Then wait, lost in thought. I had to get out of there quick. Her lips were just too tempting. I don't want to push it. I really don't want to hurt her. She deserves better. I want to be there for her. To help her get through whatever problem she has.
"You avoiding me?" Frank asks as he taps my shoulder. I turn round fast.
"Don't do that. You scared the fuck out of me." I laughed.
"Coffee and chat?" He says as we enter the elevator. "Looks like you have something your desperate to tell me."
How the hell did he know? "Okay. "

I sit down in the last booth furthest away from the coffee shop door, my back to the wall. Frank takes the two coffees from the smiling tubby grey haired woman at the counter. Then head's towards me. Sitting down across from me.
"Details then." He says as he pushes my drink across the table to me.
I frown at him. "What do you know about Dee?" I ask.
Now Frank frowns. "Why?"
"Just answer, please?"
Frank sighs. "Fine." He gulps down a mouthful of coffee. "Dee has been in Chicago for eleven month's. She is loved by everyone and has friends in high places. Including the police department, c.i.d and the government. Lily and Cherry love her. She's friend's with Ray, Bob, Christa and Jamia. She's been a fan of My Chem since day one. She is seriously loaded. The only people that know absolutely everything there is to know about Dee is the Stones."
Frank drinks the rest of his drink. "She absolutely adores Helena Torres. The old lady behind the counter here."
I look up just as the door opens and Dee walks in, smiling at Helena. She walks towards her and reaches for something on the counter. The old woman walks in front of her and wags her finger in her face. Dee laughs and lunges the other side and grabs a apple. She sticks her tongue out and goes to sit on the counter. Helena pushes her off and shakes her head with her hands on her hips. Dee copies her earning a laugh from the older woman. Then she leans against the counter and bites her apple. Helena muttering something as she walks to the door leading out back. Dee stares out the window as she eats.
"Earth to Gerard?"
I forgot Frank is here."Is Helena the manager of this place?"
Frank frowns. "Of 'Pancake Report'. No." He shakes his head. "Dee owns it. Why?"
I look back at Dee. She's still looking out the window but the apple was gone. Her arm's crossed across her chest. "Dee owns this place?"
"Yep. She owns quite a few places."

Dee's P.O.V

I watch as a blond woman picks up her child and kisses her cheek with a smile. I sigh. I really miss my mum. She died when I was just about to turn eleven. Murdered by that.... No. I will not think about it. I close my eyes and run both hands through my hair. I knew I'd lost that light behind my eyes that mum used to say I had. I can't be thinking about this any more. I'm in America now. I open my eyes and lower my hands as I turn to see if Helena is coming back. Ahhh. She's cleaning up a spilled box of plastic spoons. Time to get that cup cake. I walk quietly towards the tray of cup cakes. Careful to not catch Helen's attention. I am just about to grab it when I hear a tut tut sound. "You touch any of those and your in big trouble, lady." I groan as I snap my hand back. "But...Helly...." I whine. She turns to look at me. I flutter my lashes at her. She sighs. "Fine. But just one." I cheer then grab one quick before she changes her mind.
After I finish the cup cake I smile at her. "One for J.J?" She throws her hands up then puts one in a paper bag.
"I will be checking with Johnny."
I fake a shocked look. "You don't trust me?"
"Get out of here." She says as she flicks a towel at me. I run for the door, onlĂ˝ turning to poke my tongue out at her. I see her laugh as I get in the car. I count that as a win.

Notes

Well I did write this earlier but it deleted itself. So I had to start again. I prefer this one though to be honest. Enjoy.xxx

My little brothers would always say 'Gaayyy' to things when they were younger too. Haha Now it's my hubby. What's w these guys? Strange humor I guess.
