Oh baby, let me in
~Chapter 1~
‘Belleville Boarding College’ read the sign passing the taxi cab as we turned into my new school.
“Do you need me to help you in, kid?” asked the taxi driver.
“Nah, I’ll be fine,” I sigh as the taxi pulled to a halt in front of the main door. I didn’t have too much stuff; just two suitcases and a hand luggage bag. I didn’t want to get into too deep of a conversation with this guy anyway. He’d been trying to talk to me on the way and seemed like a bit of a creep.
I grabbed my stuff and made my way to the door, thanking and paying the driver on the way.
I shove open the doors to be welcomed by a large hall with a simple desk in the centre. The desk was lined with shelves and shelves of files and folders. A middle-aged woman was on a small chair in the centre of the desk. She was reading an article in a fashion magazine, and was obviously so engrossed that she didn’t notice me approaching her, as she jumped when I finally spoke.
“Hello?” I say, hoping I’d gotten her attention.
“Yes, what do you want?” She snapped. Her glasses slipped down her face slightly.
“Erm, I’m new.”
“Oh, you must be…” She pushed her magazine out of the way, revealing a list of what seemed to be student’s names, “…Gerard? Gerard Way?”
“Yep, that’s me.”
The woman leant down under the desk for a few seconds. I could hear her rummaging through a drawer, humming a tune. I took this brief interval to look around the room. The walls were covered in pictures of people, some I recognised from magazines or could recall seeing on TV. Probably ex-students.
I was awoken from my thoughts by the secretary woman clearing her throat. I quickly turned around, making my long, black hair fall into my face.
“You’re going to have to cut that off, you know,” she says, pointing towards my hair as I push it back.
I ignore her comment and look to see that there are some more sheets of paper on the desk.
“This is your timetable,” She says, indicating to the first sheet of paper, “You’re expected to start your lessons tomorrow, leaving you this afternoon to settle into your new environment and meet your peers.” I hmm in acknowledgement.
She passes me the next sheet of paper.
“This is a map of the school. You’ll probably get lost at first, this is a pretty big place. I’ve circled your dorm room to help you a tad.”
My room is the furthest room on the top floor. Great.
She passes me some more papers.
“There’s just some standard introductory stuff here that you can read in your dorm,” she says.
Finally, she passed me a key.
“This is the key to your dorm. Only you, the caretaker and your dorm-mate have one, so look after it.”
She pulls out the sheet of names again.
“Speaking of dorm-mates, yours is…” she runs her finger down the paper,”… Mr Frank Iero.”
“Thanks,” I say and make my way down a corridor that probably went somewhere; the secretary woman wasn’t much use.
Notes
I hope you like it!
This is my first fic, so it's probably really awful. Sorry.
I'll try to update fairly regularly, like a couple chapters every 2 or 3 days.
