Mr. Way - Frerard

FRANK'S POV

I waited anxiously in the living room, not paying attention to the show I was watchimy on tv. I was just whiling away the time until Gerard got here. Whatever Ma was cooking in the kitchen smelled delicious, but before I had time to decifer what it was, there was a tap at the door. "Ooh, that's him!" Ma squealed, removing her apron and getting to the door before I did.

I got to the door to see Gerard introducing himself and giving my mother a bunch of flowers. She said something about him being a gentleman and invited him inside. He gave me a kiss on the cheek and my heart began to thump loudly again.

Ma brought us both through to the kitchen, where she had set out three plates on the table, each holding homemade spaghetti bolognese. Gerard complimented Ma on her cooking skills and we all sat down to eat.

We all made polite conversation, and everything was going great until my Ma asked, "So how did you two meet?" I placed my hand on Gerard's knee under the table to tell him that I would answer. "Through an art project at school." I kept the answer short, and Ma began to ask Gerard about his artwork, leaving me to breathe a small sigh of relief.

The evening went well, and Ma certainly seemed to like Gerard. When the time came for him to leave, we stood on the step outside my house together.

"You think that went well?" Gerard asked uncertainly.

"It went amazing! She loves you," I reassured him. He smiled widely, and I kissed him passionately.

"I really like you, Frank. I want to work hard to make this relationship work."

"I really like you too, Gee."

We gave each other a reluctant goodbye kiss, and I was left smiling, counting down the time until I would see him tomorrow.
