Don't assume

mikey had come home later after school and saw me still just sitting on the couch. i hadn’t moved all day since frank had left. I had just sat there and pitied myself.
“gerard?” mikey asked softly “hey are you okay?”

“no” i whimpered as i tried hard not to cry again.

“hey, hey you're fine, don't cry just tell me whats up.”

it took me sometime to actually figure out what i was going to say because i didn’t want to lie to mikey but i didn’t want to tell him the whole truth.

“i talked to the father.” i whispered

mikey froze. "i thought you didn’t know who it was, that it was just one night.”

“it was but i knew him beforehand and i uh called him today.”

“what’d he say?” he asked hesitantly.

“he told me that if i didn’t want to sleep with him i should’ve just said no instead of ‘pulling this elaborate bullshit’ and to call him when i was ready to apologize.”

“what’s his name.” mikey asked me harshly.

“mikey you don’t-“

“what his fucking name gerard. he can't do that to you and get away with it!”

“mikey you are not going after someone you don’t know and who is older than you. i don't care how mad you are but I'm not letting you go after him.”

“what else am i supposed to do? he hurt you and thinks you're lying about having a kid. his kid!”

I knew mikey meant well but who would he even go after? i wasn’t about to tell him that frank was the father.
"no mikey." i told him again "just drop it."

“alright but i want to do something i can just sit here and watch you suffer.”

“im not suffering mikey im just upset.”i told him.

“and thats why im going to cheer you up” he said and with that he was walking out the front door giving me a wink.

Franks pov.

I was sitting on my bed playing guitar when my phone rang. i glanced at it and saw it was mikey so i answered it hoping it wasn’t gerard using his phone.

“you sick or ditch?” he asked me as soon i answered.

“ditched why? where are you?”

“outside your house open up fucker.” he said and i could hear the smile in his voice.

I walked downstairs and opened the door. “grab your wallet ill repay you later” he said

“what do you need my money for you little shit?” i joked

“were going shopping.” he said as if i was the most obvious thing in the world.

“for what?”

“i wanna cheer gerard up. he’s had a really shit week and this asshole guy had him basically soaking in his own tears. i swear if i knew the guys name id murder him.”

i stared at mikey. He knew gerard was upset but didn’t know it was me…he aslo said he was seriously upset.

“why was gee so torn up?” i asked him trying to sound calm

“i dont know if he’d want me telling you”

“im his friend too-“

“i know, i know but uh i just... its not a normal thing thats upsetting him, its pretty traumatic.”
He paused “so just know i wouldn’t mention kids around him.”

I stared at Mikey. He couldn’t be serious.
“oh and also no speaking of alcohol. i doubt he'll be drinking any in the future.”

Was mikey beings serious? not to mention kids? some guy left him upset, and no more alcohol?

“who was the guy that hurt him? do you have any idea?” i asked shakily but mikey didn't seem to notice

he shook his head “he won’t tell me. He said it was a one night stand but he knew him before. I think he’s lying though. i think he won’t tell me because i know i the guy. When i threatened to go after this asshole who doesn't even care about his own kid he said he was older than me”

“kid?” i asked instantly “what kid are you talking about?”

“y’know what forget i said anything lets just go to the store, buy a bunch of junk food, energy drinks and cigarettes.” Mikey said realizing he shouldn't have spoken
