Developing Wings on the Way Down
Part Seventeen: How Much You Want Something Changes the Game
Gerard came to, rolling his head from side to side as Frank bolted upright from his leaning-against-the-wall slumber. He still wasn't quite in his right mind as he mumbled incoherently. Only a few words came out clearly and they made Frank freeze in his spot.
"Abdel?.. Who?" he mumbled, his eyebrow creasing.
Frank stopped moving. He stopped breathing even. He launched himself off the bedside and went upside, then out the back door. He paced the back yard a few times, letting the rain the had freshly started hit his wings. He used all of the power he could muster in his mind to scream out to the voice in his head. He screamed profanities, insults, everything he could bring up, hoping for a response. And eventually, he got one.
I have a small proposition for you.
Frank perked his head up and looked around, as he almost always did when it first spoke. "What is it?"
Do you want me to leave you alone? the voice asked, making a hopeful feeling shock through Frank.
"Yes" his voice came through a lot higher than he expected it to be, "Yes, I don't want anything more" he added.
A low cackle came in response, before words. Well. I wil leave you alone. Under a condition. When you die, which you will eventually, you bring one of your new little friends with you.
Frank's eyes widened and he stared blankly at the grass. His thoughts went everywhere. A small dose of panic flowed through and up his chest. "how the hell am I supposed to bring one of my friends down to that torture you kept me in, you fucking sadistic bastard?"
With that said, a short yell of pain of surprise came from inside the house. Frank jumped and turned, worried.
Abdel, I would greatly appreciate it if you would not call me names.
Frank bit his lip hard "So you promise you will leave me alone?" he whispered.
