The Highways I Call Home
The Future Is Bulletproof
Gerard and Frank sat down on a bench overlooking the waves. The sun was still high and burning bright and the sky was a brilliant blue.
"Frank, I think I'm going to get an apartment down here and a job. Maybe you could even move in eventually! I don't want to go back to Jersey. I don't want to go anywhere if you're not there." Gerard stated sincerely, meeting Frank's eyes.
"That would be awesome!" Frank exclaimed, wrapping his arms around Gerard. "I don't ever want you to go either."
Then he pushed back a little. "But Gerard, you have a family up there. I don't want to keep you from them."
"With or without you, I would never go back there. Or at least not for a while. There's... well, something happened. I'll tell you eventually, but for now it's just a very sensitive subject."
Gerard's eyes scrunched tight and his face turned a shade paler.
"It's alright, Gee. I'll be here when you're ready." Frank said, taking Gerard's hand, and they continued to walk along the beach.

"Hey Gerard, I hate leaving you, but it's getting late. My parents are probably worried sick." Frank said after several hours passed and the sun started to set. They had talked and ran around in the sand, enjoying each others' presence to the fullest.
"Okay. I'll see you tomorrow, though, right?"
"Of course!" Frank said, pecking Gerard on the lips. "Let's meet at the coffee shop at ten or so? Is that good?"
"Yes!"
"I'll see you then, Gee!"
"Bye Frankie!"
They them headed in opposite directions, Frank to his house, Gerard back to his car. Frank entered the house as quietly as he could and tiptoed up the stairs, but halfway up a voice caked out, "Frank Iero, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN ALL DAY??!"
Frank stopped dead in his tracks and looked down to see his father fuming up at him. "Sorry, Dad. I met someone.."
"We are supposed to be bonding as a family! You have to give us a chance, Son. Don't go running off all the time. We moved here to be happy, not separated."
"Well I'm sorry I'm making friends and I'm sorry I'm trying to enjoy my time here." Frank sassed, rolling his eyes fur emphasis.
"I'm happy for you, I am. But make sure you aren't getting in with the wrong crowd. I don't need you getting into drugs again or becoming some whore or smoking and drinking and-"
"Dad, cool it. They're good people."
"Okay, good. But still be at home sometimes okay? I love you and I want you to have a good family."
"Alright, Dad, love you too" Frank said before entering his room and closing the door.
He sprawled out on his bed and thought of Gerard for an hour or so. He was going to live here, in this shit town in a shit state, just for him. Frank smiled to himself. This was love. It had to be.
He thought of the feel of Gerard's lips, the fearlessness he felt when in his arms, and the future they would have together. Gerard would get a job and an apartment and Frank would join him after school was over and they'd move back to Jersey or some place less hot and shitty and adopt kids or something. It was perfect.
He picked up Pansy and played a few notes before going to into a deep sleep filled with dreams of Gerard, anxiously waiting for the next day to see him again.
