The Killers Around Us
The Next morning...
“Akari wake up,” Gerard said. I slowly opened my eyes. The light of the sun hurting them as I get up. I sit up and see Gerard sitting up with me. He pulled me close and then kissed my cheek.
“What time is it?” I asked.
“Around 10 am,” he said. I stood up and stretch He came up behind me and then held me.
“Let’s get some food for you,” he said. I nodded and then we climbed down the tree and went to hunt food but Gerard had me beat. He killed a fish and then put it over a fire just for me.
“Gerard, I could have done it myself,” I said.
“No I don’t want someone to come and hurt or kill you,” he said sternly. I sighed.
“I can still take care of myself,” I said.
“Not while I’m around you’re not,” he said handing me the food. I started to eat as he stood up and looked around. When I was done eating I stood up and looked at him. He turned to me and pulled me close to him. He kissed me and I couldn’t help but kiss back. He had nice full lips and soft black hair. I buried my fingers into his hair as he held me.
“We need to move on now,” I said. He nodded and got my backpack for me. He held my hand as we started to move on. I hugged against his arm a little scared of what might be able to happen. I wanted to just to run away from all of this but if I did leave town I wouldn’t have met Gerard. After a while we stopped next to a river to fill up the water bottles.
“Akari if you want to bathe you can. We will be here for the rest of the night,” Gerard said. He went up into a shaded tree. I knew it was the sun that probably starting to make him weak. I went to the waterfall around dusk and then took off my clothes slowly. I touch the bite mark that Gerard left on me. It hurt a little but not too bad. I put myself under the waterfall and let the water run down my body. I felt someone watching me that’s when I saw Gerard leaving the tree. I yelp.
“At least turn around,” I said. He smirked and turned around.
“I’m going to find something for you to eat when you dry off and get dressed get in to tree,” he said then taking off. I put my clothes back on and then got in the tree like he told me. Since the backpack was already up here I found the old picture of my parents and me when I was younger. I looked at it for a little while then Gerard came back and he didn’t look so happy.
“Gerard are you alright,” I asked. His eyes were blazing red.
“The other three found me just a while ago meaning that I have to keep you hidden,” he said pulling me to him. He kissed me and hugged me tighter.
“I’m scared Gerard. What if something does happen to me,” I asked.
“Don’t say that. Nothing will happen to you as long as I’m here,” he said. He held me tight and then started to cook the food he got me.
“Get back in the tree and stay there until the food is done,” he said finally pulling away from me. I sigh and did as he told me to do. He watched me as I went up the tree. I wanted to be down there with him but he would probably be pissed.
“Gerard, I want down,” I whined. He looked at me. He narrowed his eyes at me then looked around.
“Alright you can come down for a little while,” he said. I got down and curled up next to him. It was starting to get cold.
“Gerard, it’s getting cold,” I said. Gerard took off his coat and put it around me. He held my hand and kissed me. As he pulled away he put his arms around me.
That’s when we heard others.
“Gerard, I see you found some delicious food,” a dark voice said. Gerard and I stood up. I saw three people coming out of the shadows. I hugged Gerard’s arm tightly.
“Are you going to share?” one of the others said.
“Get the hell out of here. Whether you’re my friends or not I won’t hesitate to kill you all if you touch this girl,” Gerard growled. I hug Gerard tight. I was so scared and shaking none the less.
“Oh come on. We all know that you will devour her sooner or later,” the first one said.
“I will never kill her from taking too much of her blood,” Gerard said.
The other three look at each other and grin. In a flash faster than a blink or the beat of a heart, Gerard was fighting the two guys and another was holding me by my throat against the tree. I tried to scream.
“Gerard! Help!” I managed to scream. Gerard slashed the leader’s throat and looked toward the man holding me to the tree and me. He could tell I was so afraid.
“Gerard, behind you!” I yelled. He turned and the second man almost punched him. Gerard bit into the man’s neck quickly killing me. The man holding me grabbed me and held my neck tighter. I gasped for air and soon passing out from lack of air.
When I woke up Gerard was putting a wet cloth on my head. I sat up as fast as I could and grabbed a hold of him.
“Gerard are you okay?” I said almost crying. He nodded and held me.
“Shh we’re okay now,” he said kissing me.
“What happened?” I asked. He sat back a little.
“After you passed out I killed the last of them and tried to wake you up but since the bruising started to form I just brought you back to the tree house for you to rest and regain your breath,” he said. I hugged him.
“I was so scared that you might have been killed and then me,” I said then actually starting to cry. He pulled me into his lap and hushed me. We stayed like that for a little while and then he let me go.
“We’re going to be alright,” he said then kissing me. I put my head against his chest.
