Summertime

Ray POV:
It was the last day of summer before my junior year of high school. Me and my four best friends
Frank, Gee, Mikey, and Bob were all on my front porch sitting around, drinking some beers that Bob stole from his stepdad and talking about school the next day. Frank and i were going to be juniors, Gee and Bob were seniors and Mikey was a sophmore. I leaned my head back and looked up at the night sky. You couldn’t really see the stars in Jersey but i loved the few you could.

“Watcha thinkin about Ray?” asked Mikey
I turned to him “Nothin. Just life i guess.”
“Yeah. I can’t believe Gee’s a senior. Soon he’s gonna be gone” he said sadly. Gee was Mikey’s older brother, and they were really close. About a week ago i found Mikey crying in his room. He told me that he was afraid of Gee leaving and them not talking anymore. I never told Gerard because Mikey asked me not to. Instead i comforted him and reassured that if Gee left they would still be close.

Mikey gave me a small smile and returned to his conversation with Bob about some bands they liked. Then Frank asked us
“Have you guys heard?” he asked
“Heard what” replied Gerard
“There’s a new girl that moved in down the street from you guys” he stated
“Who guys?” asked Gee
“And how do you know this?” asked Bob
“From Gee and Mikey. and i know because i saw them move in last week.”
“Have you seen said girl?” asked Mikey
“Yeah. She’s pretty cute. Reddish hair, about my height.”
“Huh” i said. That was pretty much the end of it.

A few hours later everyone went home and i went into bed. I laid down and thought about this new girl. I wondered where she was from and what she was like. I fell asleep with the image of a beautiful red haired girl in my head.
