Gasp...

Gerard woke with a start, gasping for the air his lungs so desperately needed before he passed out. After a few moments of steady breathing, he opened his eyes to survey his surroundings. He was lying on a warm rock, in the middle of a desert, but in the distance he could see what looked like a forest. Where the fuck am I?

The scorching afternoon sun beat down on him, drying his previously soaked clothes in a matter of minutes. He lay there, debating his next move. It was too late in the afternoon to venture to the forest, it would be dark and cold soon and he sure as hell wasn't going to spend the night in there. He decided to rethink his strategy in the morning and gathered some shrub and sticks to make a fire with later when the temperature dropped.


He sat in front of the crackling fire, staring into the the dancing flames, mesmorized. He sat like that for what felt like hours before fatigue washed over him and he fell into an uneasy sleep.
