The Light Behind Your Eyes (Frerard vs Waycest)

Don't Tell Mom

Gerard woke up slowly, reluctantly, and tried to stretch only to be restricted by an arm tightly wrapped around him. Gerard panicked as he looked around the unfamiliar room.Where was he and why?! Who was hugging him like this?! Gerard's heart started racing and he glanced behind him, trying to see without waking the other. His breathing slowed down when he saw Frank but his heart started beating a new again. What had happened last night? The memories came flooding back and he relaxed a little bit, trying not to wake Frank and failing horribly.
"Nng" Frank moaned from behind Gerard, snuggling closer before opening his eyes. "Oh, shit! Sorry, man!" Frank released Gerard and pulled away, grinning sheepishly.
"It's cool. I just really have to pee!" Gerard laughed and he was becoming really comfortable with Frank.
"Okay, then go!" Frank laughed and laid back down, pulling the comforter over his head. When Gerard came back, Frank was fast asleep again, so he just pulled on his clothes from last night and went down stairs to make breakfast for the both of him.
Frank awoke to soft humming and the beautiful smell of bacon and eggs. He began panicking. Who was in his house?! Frank relaxed when he remembered Gerard and smiled to himself as he heard the door open.
"You awake, Frank?" Gerard asked quietly, chucking at the soft noise made in response. "I made breakfast!" Frank peeked out from the blanket and decided food was worth getting up for.
"I hope you don't mind. I used things from your fridge." Gerard said, scratching the back of his head. His cheeks were lit up in embarrassment.
"It's no problem, man! I can always get more. You didn't have to make me breakfast, though."
"Yes, I did. It was the least I could do for everything you did for me yesterday." Gerard replied, his cheeks growing redder and they are the rest of their meal in silence.
"Okay, are you going to tell me why you came here yesterday crying and freezing your ass off?" Frank asked after he made them both a cup of coffee.
Gerard debated it awhile, wondering if he should tell Frank. He deserves to know, doesn't he? Well, he should be given points for not asking when Gerard was a sobering, scared mess. "Uh, well, M-Mikey s-said you're a d-drug addict and that I shouldn't hang out with you and I, um, replied with saying, um, w-what if we were l-lovers and he, uh, k-kissed me and I t-told him it was i-illegal and wrong and p-pushed him away." Gerard paused, taking a deep breath to steady his voice. Why was he telling Frank all of this? And why was Frank taking this so well? It isn't the common situation, you know. "B-But then Mikey said I've d-done illegal things b-before and asked why this was any different. He said even a b-blind person could tell I was gay, so he knew that that c-couldn't be my excuse. So I-I didn't know what to d-do, you know? I couldn't stay t-there and I had no where else to go-" Gerard's voice broke as tears started running down his face. Frank pulled Gerard into his arms and started rubbing his back.
"You don't have to continue if you don't want." Frank whispered in Gerard's ear. Gerard knew he only knew Frank for a few hours but he just needed to get this out.
"He's my l-little b-brother, man. H-How am I suppose t-to respond t-to t-that?" Frank nodded, and didn't say anything else, only holding Gerard tightly to himself. "It's okay, Gerard. He's your brother, right? Just talk to him about it. Tell him you feel uncomfortable, he'll understand."
"Thanks F-Frankie." Gerard whispered, his tears slowing as he pulled away, his cheeks stained red.
"No problem, man. What are friends for?" Gerard nodded at Frank's kind smile and checked his phone real quick.
"Shit." Gerard muttered under his breath as he checked his messages. Tens calls from mom and twenty five from Mikey. They must be worried sick, dammit.
"What's wrong?" Frank asked, peering at Gerard's phone.
"I didn't tell anyone that I was here."
"Oh." Frank said dumbly before breaking out into a fit of giggles. The laugh was contagious and Gerard started laughing too as he quickly typed in Mikey's number and told Frank to hush.
"Hello?" Mikey's quiet voice asked, but it seemed to be broken, like he'd been crying a lot.
"Mikey?"
"Gerard?!" Mikey yelled excitedly. "Mom, Gerard's on the phone!" Gerard heard a struggle over the phone and smiled a little.
"Gerard? Honey? Are you okay? Do you need us to come get you?" "I'm fine, mom, I'm at a friend's house. I'm sorry for not telling you." "It's fine, sweetheart. We're just glad you're okay. Alright, alright, here's Mikey." Gerard's mom, Donna, sighed and handed over the phone.
"Gee? What happened yesterday? Did I scare you that much?" Mikey asked carefully, his voice growing sad and quiet again.
"No, you just shocked me. It's just- well, confusing. I'm sorry."
"Okay, we'll talk when you get home, okay? You are coming home, right?"
"Yeah, a few hours."
"Okay, oh, and where are you, by the way?" Mikey asked and Gerard froze. He knew Mikey already knew.
"Frank's house." Gerard replied quietly.
"Okay, whatever, bye." Mikey hung up before Gerard could answer and Gerard sighed and put the phone away.
"Want to go to the park?" Gerard asked grinning, mostly to avoid the questions he could practically see on the tip of Frank's tongue and Frank nodded excitedly, jumping off the couch.
"Gerard!" Frank whined as he sat down on a swing. "My feet can't reach!!" Gerard laughed and walked up behind him.
"Want me to push you?" He asked and Frank nodded enthusiastically. Gerard sighed and pushed him as high as he would go, laughing at how Frank pretended he was flying.
"Ah, I better go home, now." Gerard smiled as he hoped down from the swing and checked the time.
"Oh." Frank pouted. "Why?"
"My parents are worried about me. Now, I'll see you at school tomorrow, okay? We can gave lunch together since we don't have classes together."
"Okay!" Frank chirped. "Bye, Gee!!" Gerard didn't notice the nickname, it just flew so freely from Frank's lips, it seemed natural.
"Bye, Frankie! See ya!!" Gerard headed towards home to be bombarded with questions. How fun.
....
After dinner was when Mikey confronted him again about what had happened last night.
"Do you actually like him?" Mikey asked as soon as they were in their room alone.
"Who?" Gerard replied and Mikey rolled his eyes.
"Frank."
"Oh, um, I-I don't know." Gerard flushed red and bit his lip.
"Do you like me?" Mikey asked and Gerard opened his mouth, only to be cut off. "I mean like, like. Like, boyfriends, that type of like." Gerard had the urge to laugh, Mikey sounded like a teenaged girl.
"I-I, um, don't know, Mikes."
"Why not?" Mikey asked and Gerard saw the hurt behind Mikey's glasses to his beautiful eyes.
"I-I don't know, Mikes, I don't know." Gerard genuinely didn't know and he knew Mikey was hurting.
"Please, just give me a chance, Gee. Please." Mikey begged, leaning against Gerard's arm and Gerard did what he would have always done, he pulled Mikey into a tight hug.
"It's the least you could do." Mikey mumbled into the fabric of Gerard's T-shirt.
"Okay, Mikes, okay. I'll give you a chance." Gerard rested his head on top of Mikey's as Mikey hugged him tightly.
Why had he agreed to this? It was so wrong, but who could deny these butterflies?
