Surrender the Night

This Is How I Dissapear

He walked to lunch and carefully chose his seat. He chose a seat that was across the jocks tables, but was far away from the ‘pretty girls’ who were truthfully mean and judgmental. He sat alone, like always. The lunch room was full of conversations and people moving from seat to seat. He ate his food quickly and made his way outside. There wasn't much of a breeze, but enough to make the leaves on the trees chatter. There weren't many people out there but the usual people who didn't like him, which was just about everyone now and days. He walked quickly to his hiding spot under the metal bleachers. The metal was cold and sturdy, although loud and alarming. Gerard liked the sense of security he got from those rusted, neglected bleachers. No bullies could get him from this spot, and most days he would bring his notebook out here and write. Although, today he forgot to bring that beat up thing, it was sitting in his room. Neglected on the wood desk where he had left it after the makeshift dinner they had the night before. And on the days he didn't have his notebook, such as today, he would observe people and their actions through a cigarette. Always trying to find the true beauty in people, which proved rather difficult when people were so fake. Gerard hated society, and I know that sounds like any other misfit teenager, but he really did. He hated the fact that if they didn't fit into societies rules they were considered freaks, or emo. He hated how you had to be a certain way to fit in. There was no ‘being yourself’ when people constantly put you down for it, and people wonder why others are so fake. People were playing volleyball or throwing a ball and running around.

He laid there switching his eyes from person to person, and group to group. There were people sitting on grass, relaxing and talking. There were people screaming and making ridiculous sounds at each other as they acted crazy. They would fling their arms around, and give each other piggy back rides. Sometimes Gerard wished he would be one of those people, normal with insane friends that would make you feel welcome. Then there was a circle of people playing volleyball, people sometimes running away from the group to grab the astray ball. There was also jocks running, throwing a football from place to place. There were different kinds of people, people who were calm and quiet, others who were loud and fast in their actions. Then there was Gerard, the emo misfit one. Who sat under the bleachers, cigarette smoke emitting from him.
