You Won't Fuck My Friends

Chapter Nine - Gerard's P.O.V

“Hey, Bert?” I’d leant my head against his shoulder.
“Yeah?” He’d moved his arm so it was around my shoulders.
“Frank wants to party again tonight.” I’d not moved my head or changed my tone of voice or anything, I was peacefully relaxed.
Frank had said nothing, Bert had laughed, and the decision had been made.
I scrolled through the contacts on Bert’s phone with Frank looking over my shoulder, selecting which people we should invite over that night. Bert brought little bags of pills through and set them on the table, then raided various cupboards to find whatever alcohol we had and set that on the table too.
“How’s stuff with you and Oli?” I called through to him, “Do you want me to invite him?”
“Nothing big’s up, go for it!” Bert shouted from the kitchen and I added Oli to the list.
“It’s already half-six, Gerard.” Frank said, his breath tickling my neck.
“Yeah I know, I know.” I half-snapped back, continuing to add people.
“Gee?” Bert came into the room holding a bottle of vodka in each hand, “Make sure you invite Austin and Alan, Alan would be hilarious drunk!”
I burst out laughing at the thought of the adorable ginger spouting nonsense before replying with, “Yeah, I’ve already got him.”
“Good good,” Bert said absentmindedly as he turned back to the alcohol on the table, “Ah, shit. Gerard? I’m gonna nip down to that store on the corner for more booze, we’re a little low on the beer and all. Plus we need some stuff to mix spirits with.”
“Yeah, okay,” I answered, “Is there anyone else or can I contact them all now?”
“Err..” Bert rubbed his chin thoughtfully, “I don’t think so.”
“Hayley.” Frank spoke softly and I turned to look at him, an emotion I couldn’t identify creeping into me.
“Awwww,” Bert smiled at him, “That’s honestly adorable.”
“I ship it.” I blurted out and Frank turned a little pink.
“Me too!” Bert gazed at Frank, “Frayley?”
I burst out laughing and Frank smashed his face against my shoulder as I said “Oh my God! That’s perfect!”
“No! Not like that!” Frank exclaimed making Bert laugh.
“I thought you were meant to be gay, Frankie!” I giggled and Bert continued to laugh.
“Nah,” Frank paused then started to laugh, “That’s only for Bert!”
I choked, Bert saw the expression on my face and laughed harder, tears on his cheeks. Frank whacked me hard on the back and the two of us began to laugh too.
“No, I kid.” Frank said once we’d all calmed down, “I am into guys. I like Hayley, but not in that way. She’s just a lovely person and I enjoyed speaking to her.”
“Mhhm hmmm.” I raised my eyebrows, unnerved by the sense of relief in me, but I didn’t move, and added Andy to the list anyway, “Bert? You don’t have Hayley’s number but if we ask Andy to bring Taylor and her sister that’d work yeah?”
“Yeah, good plan,” Bert said as he stood up, “I’ll be back in ten.”
I nodded and stood up to kiss him before he left, I then pressed the send button before flopping back down onto the sofa, forgetting Frank was behind me. I realised at the last moment and quickly pulled him onto my lap, as he cried out in surprise. We stayed like that for about a minute, both of us giggling as we sprawled out, entangled and giddy. Frank was actually heavier than he looked, he was small but had a lot more muscle than I did so probably weighed about the same as I did. He moved his arm and I felt his bicep clench then unclench, a blush spread across my cheeks and I stood up, pushing the thought out of my head.
“Geeman?” Frank asked and I laughed, turning to look down at him on the sofa.
“Yeees?” I asked with a smile.
“Tonight I’ll drink something, but I don’t wanna have too much because the only time I drunk was last night. But I realised that it isn’t actually too bad, so I’ll do it again, okay?” He looked at me and I nodded before he continued, “Though I want you to respect that and not give me extra alcohol, also, could you please look after me in case I do anything stupid?”
I smiled slightly, “Of course, I promise.”
“Thanks.” He said, and I offered my hand to him, he accepted it and I pulled him upwards.
“Anyway, we have a lot to do!” I said and dragged him over to the stereo, “What music shall we start with?”
“Let me.” Frank said and pressed and turned various dials, after a moment the sound of the charts station filled the room. I looked at him, disgusted.
He looked at my face and burst out laughing as I said, “No.”
“I’m joking,” He smirked and I laughed at him, “Do you have the Misfits?”
“We sure do!” I replied and showed him how to create playlists, “Just add whatever you want, as long as it’s alternative. ‘Kay?”
He nodded and I walked over to the table, picking up Bert’s flashing phone.
‘Will be there man! –Patrick’
‘Sure thing, Taylor’s picking up Hayley just now, -Andy’
‘The fuck dude? I’ve not even recovered from last night, but count me in! –Josh’
I smiled and yelled to Frank, “We’ll have company!”
“Rad!” He shouted back, and I almost skipped through the hall to unlock the door, colliding head-on with Bert.
“Woah! Calm yourself!” Bert laughed and helped me up, and we walked into the living room as Saturday Night started playing.
Frank turned and walked over to us, grinning.
“Nice music man!” Bert clapped him over the head, “I’m proud of your choice.”
“I thought you’d approve,” Frank smirked, his eyes shining as he added in a louder voice, “Michale Graves over Glenn Danzig any day!”
“I’m glad you agree with us,” I laughed, “We might have had to kick you out otherwise!”
Bert laughed as he took my hand, leading me into a fast waltz type dance as we sang to each other,
But the back-seat of the drive in, is so lonely without you – I know when you’re home
Frank turned back to us and burst out laughing, we paused for a moment then simultaneously burst out singing to him, ‘There was something I forgot to say, I was crying on a Saturday night
The three of us laughed and Frank said, “You guys are actually pretty decent, although ditch the dance moves I’d say!”
“Fuck off!” I stuck out my tongue and Frank flipped me off with a grin.
“I guess I’ll sort out the stuff Bert bought whilst you two continue ruining this song for me.”
“Good plan!” Bert winked at him and Frank went through to the hall where Bert had dumped the bags, Bert and I immediately went back to our singing, contorting our faces with exaggerated emotions and clenching our fists whilst we waved our arms around.
I’m sitting in the bedroom, where we used to sit and smoke cigarettes, now I’m watching, WATCHING YOU DIE! Oh oh oh oh ohh
“Oh, are we intruding?” Andy’s gruff voice snapped us back to reality and Taylor, clutching onto his arm, laughed, grinning at us.
I opened my mouth to respond but at that moment Frank came in, “Oh, hiya Hayley!”
Hayley said in a small voice “Hello Frank.”
Taylor and I exchanged glances and I smiled, this was gonna work out brilliantly.
More and more people arrived and soon were helping themselves to drinks and pills. A few hours (and a few drinks featuring pills) later, Frank was sitting with Hayley on the sofa, both of them holding cocktails in their hands as they talked animatedly.
Bert was outside, smoking with Oli and a few others, whilst I topped up Alan’s drink with whiskey. My vision and coordination were a bit blurred and my hands shook so most of it slopped down the sides but Alan didn’t mid, he only glanced at Austin who smiled encouragement at him.
They then excused themselves, leaving me free to walk over to Frank and check how he was doing. I’d been reminded of my duty when I’d heard Austin say to Alan he’d take care of him.
I didn’t know what I was going to say when I knelt down in front of my smaller friend who paused his conversation with the ginger girl so say hello to me, but I certainly didn’t mean to say what I actually ended up saying.
I just sort of opened my mouth as I stared into his fascinating eyes and my drunken brain made me blurt out without a second thought the thing which had been bothering me all evening.
“I’m glad you are actually gay.”
