Saturday

Jane's cheeks flushed a bright red as soon as Frank mentioned hand-holding. Even if it WAS just for 'safety reasons'. She bit her lip, trying to hold back a smile as she nodded and held out her hand. Her pinky finger was so strange, she thought as she stared down at her open hand. It jutted out from the rest of her hand. They were also so dry and rough, she was nervous that Frank was going to comment on it or something. Her heart pounded as a shaky hand clasped onto hers. Jane looked up at Frank, who was a little taller than she was. how the fuck was he taller than her? God, Jane thought to herself once more. Get taller!

Frank tried to steady his trembling hand as he took Jane's in his. It was so nerve-wracking. He had to knock this off, if he wanted to stick to his 'safety reasons' excuse. He took her little hand and laced his fingers through hers, like he had seen so many other lovebirds do in school and in the movies. He looked down at her and cracked a small smile. "L-let's go", he offered and gestured with his free hand towards the ongoing path. She nodded and smiled in return, proceeding to walk on.

They walked along the path in silence for a long time. The woods were getting denser, and therefore darker. "It IS getting pretty dark", Jane broke the silence. Frank nodded and squeezed her hand, which gave Jane butterflies. She had almost forgotten he was holding her hand. It seemed so natural, like it was meant to be there. "Maybe it'll rain", Frank whispered. "I love the rain", he said. "Whys that?" Jane replied. "It's a beautiful thing to listen to. It's also so serene", Frank answered hazily. She nodded and looked around the forest. Just then Frank tripped over a root in the path. "FUCK", Frank cursed as he went down, almost bringing Jane down with him. "Frank!" Jane exclaimed as she squatted down next to where he had fallen. He sat up and frowned. It was a comical frown, so Jane cracked a smile and giggled a little. "Are you okay?" She asked in between a few more snickers. "Yeah, I'm okay", Frank replied sheepishly and stood up. Jane stood up to and brushed off the dirt on frank's shirt and jacket, still giggling. "I'M the one who's supposed to protect YOU from falling", Frank exclaimed. Jane rolled her eyes and boldly took his hand, her heart rate picking up slightly as she did it. Good move, good move.

"Whatever", she said with a shrug. "Should we turn around?" She said and looked around the ever-darkening forest ahead of them. Frank nodded, and just as if on cue a rumble of thunder made it's way across the sky. "We'd better hurry", Frank said and began walking briskly, squeeing Jane's hand as they hurried along. Then the rain started to seep through the thick forest. Jane laughed loudly as they began getting wet. Frank took off his jacket and helped her into it, feeling very much like a gentleman as he did it. They resumed hand-holding and the two made a mad-dash for the beginning of the trail where they started their small adventure.

Ahaaaa! Two chapters in one day! Wowie, I felt like writing a lot today I guess lol. Hope you guys are enjoying this story, I'm just having incredible amounts of fun writing it.
