Behind Amber Eyes

You're Beautiful to Me

Harley

The last thing Harley remembered was talking to her friends, and Korse choking her until she passed out. She was awake now, numbness engulfing her body. Her breath was shallow, and she could feel the broken bones in her neck. How she was still alive, she had no idea. All she knew was that Korse wasn't anywhere in sight.

Harley felt drained of all energy and emotion. She had no idea what Korse did to make her feel this way. Surely he wasn't dead. This was part of his plan: to make her feel empty and weak so he could control her easier later on.

By this point, she almost hoped that Korse would kill her. She was nearly dead already, and the amount of torture she knew Korse had in store for her was enough to make her drop dead on the spot.

If only she could hear the voices of those she loved one more time, then things might just be a little bit better.

Party

Dracs were swarming the blank room that him and the others were being held in. Something about the sudden death of Jet. Medics took blood tests and plugged him into machines, but nobody seemed to understand the phenomenon of Jet's death.

"Psst. Party," whipsered Dr. D. "You doing okay?"

Party nodded and proceeded to look back at the comotion.

"We're all really sad about Jet," he heard Dr. D say, "but all things come to an end, right?"

Party turned his head to face Dr. D. "Not everything. Not the good things. Especially not Jet." Party felt tears filling his eyes, and spilling out onto his cheeks.

Dr. D shook his head. "Especially the good things," he said.

No, Party thought to himself. Jet's still there, he's got to be. But deep inside, he knew that he would never see his friend's smile, or hear him laugh ever again.

Luke

"Michael," he said, breaking away from their tight embrace.

"Mikey," the tall man corrected. "You can called me Mikey."

"Mikey," Luke continued, "don't you think we, you know, should find out what really happened?"

Mikey smiled. "What, like laying here isn't good enough?"

Luke blushed. "No I meant - you know. Nothing bad just - we kinda need - not like-"

Mikey placed his lips on Luke's. "Shh. It's okay, I was just joking," he cooed, sliding Luke off of his lap. "We really should go."

Luke smiled as Mikey walked him out of the room and down the long corridor. He was just anxious, that was all. Korse suddenly losing all power seemed very strange to him, and he didn't know how he would be able to function if Korse came back and took Mikey away from him again.

They made their way to the elevator. Mikey inserted his key into the slot, pressed a ton of buttons, and put his hand on a scanner.

"~VERIFICATION: MICHAEL JAMES WAY~" the machine said. Suddenly, Luke felt the elevator jerk upwards.

"Now listen to me," Mikey started, "you do everything I say. They can't find out our cover, understand?" Luke nodded in agreement. "Now, I'm going to put handcuffs on you, but you have to trust me. I'm not doing this to hurt you, and I will get you out, understand?" Luke nodded again as Mikey pulled his hands behind his back and put handcuffs on his wrists.

After a minute or two, the elevator doors opened. The two men were greeted by what seemed like an army of dracs. Mikey held up his badge and they cleared a path, extending all the way to Korse's office.

Luke looked up into Mikey's eyes. They were blank once again, but not the dark brown color they were when Korse was controlling him. What a good actor, Luke thought. If he wasn't, Luke knew they would be dead meat.

Ghoul

Ghoul really wished he had taken those anxiety pills with him before he agreed to go to Battery City. All he was really expecting was to go in and save Shock. Now he and his friends were locked up, Jet was dead, Kobra was being mind controlled by Korse, and Shock was close to death. He was not at all prepared for the circumstances at hand, and quite frankly, he wanted to die.

He wished one of the dracs would go berserk and shoot a gun at him. He wished Korse would mind control him into a deep, deep, coma. He wished all the oxygen would suddenly disappear off of the god-forsaken planet. He wished nothing more but to die.

And quite honestly, despite his wishes for death, he wanted to stay alive. The little ounce of hope he had in him was strong, and it blaze with a passion. Maybe if they somehow managed to get out of this mess that they were in, they could save Shock. They could save themselves. And they could quite possibly save Battery City.
