Between Two Points
One
[ Mikey's POV ]
The cold air whipped around me, chilling me to the very core. I wrap my thin Anthrax hoodie around my small frame, wishing it kept me warmer during the winter months.
People hurried down the streets, some empty handed while others carried Christmas goodies. It was that season, after all. Deck the halls and all that good stuff, right?
I had nothing in my hands, and seeing others with nearly a million bags that were stuffed with toys and clothes made my stomach churn in guilt. I wish I had enough money to buy my brother Gerard something, but I can't. Not with the pay I make working at Wonderland Records. They pay me just enough to get food on the table every night.
A cold gust of wind knocked me down on my butt and I got stepped on a couple of times before someone thrusted out a hand to help me up.
I saw it was my co-worker Bob Bryar, and he had that pissed off expression on. Before he could take his hand back, I latch onto it and he helps me up.
''Are you okay Mikey?'' He asks, dusting me off before we head down the side walk.
Merely nodding my head, I found it hard to focus on anything other than the throbbing in my left hand and the fact that once again, Gerard and I would have to make the best out of a presant-less Christmas.
''Yeah. But...can I ask you something, Bob?'' I ask, my own tone quiet. I was more than a little ashamed to be doing this, but I was getting desperate. This would be me and Gerard's fifth Christmas that sucked.
''Sure, ask away Mikes.'' Bob says, pulling me around the corner. His aparment came into view and I swallowed hard, nodding mostly to myself.
''Can I barrow some money? I'll pay you back, I swear! I just....I really want to get Gee a gift. He deserves one after all the shit he has gone through.'' I say stuffing my hands in my small jean pockets.
Bob snorts before pulling out his wallet. He hands me a fifty dollar bill and some pennies.
''Here. And you shouldn't worry so much because Gerard loves just spending time with you.'' Bob assures me. I give him a smile before turning to leave, making my way to the mall.
I smiled, pushing my way inside, not seeing the men in all black walk in after me.
