Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys
DESTROYA
From the glass elevator, I could see the destruction. Battery City was ablaze. Different areas displayed violent fames that were so tall, they could touch the sky. The sights of people running through the streets, and killjoys partying made me smile. This was the end. These were the final moments of terror and hatred. No more control, no more power. Everything was about the change.
The elevator stopped at the third level and the doors opened. No Dracs. Thank god. I stepped out and turned the left.
“Where am I headed?” I asked Girl.
“Keep going down the hall. The testing room should be the last door on the right.” She replied.
“Did Ghoul make it to you?”
“I’m here” He responded, he must have spoken into the microphone on Blu.
“Anything I need to know before I go in.”
“It’s more likely that it’ll be Poison in there. I’ve already told Show Pony and Dr. D that Kobra Kid and Jet are most likely out there. They haven’t been spotted yet, but a mass alert has gone out”
“Cool.” I replied, nearing the door to the room. I realized that the door had a key pad on it. “I need a passcode in”
“It’s 3451” Fun Ghoul said. I typed in the number into the key pad and the door opened.
“Thank you” I replied.
“Be careful. Party is the one they really worked on. He has a retinal scanner in his left eye, and he has really fancy defenses programmed into him.” Fun Ghoul said.
Walking into the stark white room was dizzying. Like the rest of the building, everything was white. There was no color. That’s the thing about Better Living Industries. They were trying to eliminate color, and free will. That was no fun.
My thoughts were broken when I felt a sharp pain on the right side of my face, and I went flying into the nearest white wall. I landed on my side, sending pain through my entire body. In front of me, stepped a pair of shiny combat boots.
“Well, it’s nice to see you Dolly” I heard a very familiar voice say very sinisterly. I looked up and saw him. It was Party Poison. Except, he didn’t look a whole lot like Party Poison. He was dressed in solid black, his jacket was almost exactly like his famous blue one, but was black and had a BL/Ind logo on the chest. His skin was deathly pale, so much so that it was almost translucent and I could see some of his veins. He still had those pretty hazel eyes, and that bright red hair was now cut short and black. He looked like the physical form of Death.
“Wow” I started, standing up. “you’re a heart attack in black hair dye”
“You should never have come here.” He said, backing away slightly and pulling out the white beamer.
“Well, I can’t just leave people to be hurt”
“You know, we could be powerful.”
“I don’t want to be powerful” I replied. “I think power is just a figment of your imagination”
“This world needs the power.” He smiled, emphasizing the word ‘need’.
“What did they do to you, Poison?” I asked. “What did they do?”
“I’m a fuckin’ DESTROYA now!” he cackled. “I have the power to do anything I fuckin’ want.”
“That’s really fucked up” I replied. “Naming a form of exterminator after something people are so hopeful to see.”
“Come on baby! This is the future! This is the world”
“Fuck your world”
“Ohhhh. Smart mouth.” He smiled, walking up to me and coming mere inches to my face. “Come on baby. Don’t you like the new me?”
“Nah” I replied. I pulled my fist back and swung, hitting Party Poison in the gut. He grabbed his stomach and dropped to his knees “I prefer a sassy red head.”
“You’re plucky”
“Always have been, Poison”
“Let’s do our talkin’ the good old way.” He said, aiming his ray gun to me. As he fired the gun, I pulled the katana up and deflected the beam.
“How ‘bout a good old fashioned fight?” I said. Party Poison then stood up and charged at me, causing me to jump up. I don’t exactly know what happened. I remember dodging his attacks. He would swing at me with his fist, and I would manage to duck, avoiding each hit. I remember getting a couple of punches in, but I was mostly on defense. I had to be. I could see that left eye change color every few minutes, proving that he was using that damn retinal scan to find a way to defeat me.
I jumped up and used my legs to catapult me over Party Poison’s hunched body, swinging the katana down toward him. I managed to hit him with the butt of the katana, and causing him to fall to his knees. I landed on my knees and begun to stand, only to feel Party Poison’s firm grip on my neck. It was like one of those moments on those old wrestling shows. Where a guy would grab another guy and choke slam them. I was being held up so high that I was on the tips of my toes.
“Sweetheart” he started. “Why don’t you give up? Give us Girl”
“Never” I breathed out, using my hands to try and force Poison’s hand open.
“Too bad” Then, he threw me against the wall. My back hit the wall and I slid down. I’m not gonna lie. The pain was intense. It was almost crippling. I wanted to cry. The moment you cry, you show weakness. I couldn’t be weak. I grabbed the katana’s blade, feeling it cut through my hand and flung it toward Party Poison. My last ditch effort actually worked. It hit him in the shoulder. The blade actually cut through his shoulder. I stood up, and walked over to the man. I knelt down, and took the hilt of the sword in my hand.
“You need to remember one thing about that kid” I started. “She fucking loved you. She wanted you to come home every fucking night. She cried when you died.” I pushed the blade deeper into his shoulder, using it to keep Poison stuck to the ground. I watched as he tried and tried to pull it out, but he couldn’t. I pulled out a famous ray gun. Yellow and pink, with “Give me money” written in kanji. I adjusted the setting to stun and placed it under Party Poison’s chin, where a scar had been.
“I fucking win!” Then I fired.
