Truth or Dare?
Gerard’s POV
The next morning Gerard met Frank in the band room again, noticing he had an extra duffel bag with him.
“Ready for this weekend?” He asked.
“…no, I don’t think so.”
“Hm? Why?”
“Well, I- It’s been too long, Gerard, I don’t even remember what I’m supposed to study.”
“…give me a list of the classes you’re taking and I’ll figure it out.” He may not have any other friends at this school, but that didn’t mean he didn’t have classmates he could ask favors of. Plus, he’d been here for such a short time that no one would think twice if he told them he was in a class he wasn't.
“Y-you sure?”
“Yeah, it’s no problem.” He smiled at Frank, glad to be able to help.
“Well, thanks.” Frank gave him a small smile and Gerard’s face started to feel a little warm.
He cleared his throat awkwardly. “Oh, um, we should figure out where we’re going this summer.”
Frank nodded, and by the time the first bell rang they had a full plan of where they were going.

The car ride home was pretty awkward. His mom was pretty nice and all, but Gerard had no idea how she felt about Frank or…swear words or, well, much of anything really. Just one of the many downsides of being a good son. Basically all three of them stayed completely silent the entire ride.
When they finally got home, Gerard led Frank straight up to his room.
“Sorry about that.” He said, sitting down on his bed and taking a bunch of schoolwork out of his backpack. “So, um, I talked to some kids in my classes and told them I was in your classes and I have a pretty good idea of what you need to study.
“Really? Thank you so much.” And there was that adorable smile again.
He nodded. “No problem.” Anything for you, Frank. He put some music on, handing Frank a list of study topics he’d gotten from kids in his classes. “If you need to look anything up, you can use my laptop.” He logged in, pushing it towards Frank.
They worked in silence until his mom called them down for dinner. After eating, they decided that they’d done enough work for one day, and Frank said something…kind of ridiculous.
“Hey…wanna play truth or dare?” He said, with a face that suggested he was trying hard not to laugh. Gerard wanted him to laugh.
He chuckled. “Sure, if you want.”
“Well, I dunno, I just thought it was proper sleepover etiquette to play truth or dare at least once.”
“Maybe, I dunno.” He put his pajama pants on, sitting back down on his bed.
Frank stripped down to his boxers, shrugging. “I don’t really have pajamas, sorry.” He sat down on the bed across from Gerard.
“Oh, that’s fine.” Yes, yes, perfectly fine. Not like his heart was beating just a little too fast for comfort, not at all. “Uh, so, truth or dare. Who wants to go first?” Frank shrugged and Gerard figured he may as well go first. “Alright, truth or dare?”
Frank answered “truth” without a moment’s hesitation, and Gerard started to wonder if he was one of those people who never chose dare. Not that he could talk, he was one of those people too.
“Um…” He was also one of those people who was terrible at asking questions and giving dares. “Uh, what was your first kiss like?” Wow, way to ask the routine truth or dare question. Good job Gerard.
But Frank’s answer was nothing like he had expected. “…non-consensual, and I don’t count it as my first kiss. It was just…the first time someone kissed me.”
“Oh.” Fuck this town made him so mad. “Um. Your turn.”
“Truth or dare?”
“Truth.” Of course, what else would he pick? He was too lazy to get up for any dare.
“Hm…have you ever done anything illegal?”
“Uh…not knowingly, I don’t think. I mean, I’ve definitely gone over the speed limit before, but that hardly counts.” He laughed, trying to recall anything else illegal he’d done. “Oh, and I’ve snuck into abandoned buildings at night. That’s always fun. Um…yeah I think that’s it.” He smiled, fondly remembering nights he’d spent LARPing with old friends in places they really shouldn’t have been.
“Sounds fun.” Frank said, and Gerard just could not figure out the expression on his face.
“Alright, truth or dare?”
“Truth.”
He sat, thinking about what to ask. “Uh, so how was your actual first kiss?”
Frank chuckled. “What first kiss?”
“Oh yeah. Shitty town and stuff. Got it.”
Frank nodded. “Truth or dare?”
“Truth.”
“Hm, what was your first kiss like?”
“Really, really awkward.” He laughed.
“Yeah, I suppose these things are never as great as we’re led to believe.”
“Truth or dare?”
“Mmm…dare.”
“Oh.” Shit, he hadn’t been expecting that. Really, what he’d like to dare him was…”I dare you to take your boxers off.” Fuck! Had he just said that out loud? “T-that wasn’t…I didn’t mean to say that.” Well, now his face was definitely red.
“Well, too late.” Shit, fuck. Frank got up, pulling his boxers off and sitting back down. “Truth or dare?”
“T-truth.”
“You ever fucked anyone?”
“Uh…no.” But I’d like to…. Frank’s lack of clothes was not helping anything. But then he noticed something. The scar that went down Frank’s leg…if he had been wearing clothes when he got it, it would be thinner, or at least inconsistent where the clothes were. But no, it was the same width all the way down to the end. Suddenly Gerard was a whole lot more worried about the whole ‘non-consensual first kiss’ thing. But…no, he’d better not ask.
The game continued for a few more questions before they realized how pointless it was to be playing it, and decided to go to bed early. Fortunately, Frank put his boxers back on, and Gerard fell asleep quickly, dreaming of him.
