Gerard's POV
Gerard ran up to his room the second he got in the door, ignoring his mom asking how his day was. He just wanted to sit down and think. How could his mom have brought him to this terrible town? Where someone so fucking innocent was starving himself? He almost screamed in frustration, looking around at everything he loved to wear, everything in his room that represented who he was. He couldn't be any of that. Not in this town. This was a terrible town, and he wanted to get out of it so bad. Of course he wanted to go on a road trip this summer but...how would he convince his mom?
He sighed, going downstairs. She was sitting at the kitchen table, and smiled when he entered the room. "Hey, how are you?"
"Kind of awful to be honest."
Her smile disappeared. "Why? Did something happen?"
"Mom this town is terrible. They're racist, sexist, and...and homophobic."
"Oh honey..."
"N-no...don't say anything. It's fine really. Three weeks of school and it'll be over, but after that I want to leave town for a little while. That's all I ask. I know you have to stay here for work, and that's fine. I just want to take a road trip with my friend."
She just looked at him, with a slightly pained expression on her face.
"That's all I want, mom."
Finally, she nodded. "O-okay. But you guys have to have a solid plan and and you have to tell me all about it, alright?"
He grinned widely. "Thanks so much, mom!" He hugged her tightly before heading to his room to work on his homework.
"One more thing, Gerard!" She called after him.
He turned around, leaning on the doorway. "Hm?"
"As soon as I can find a good way to get out of here, I promise we'll move."
He smiled. "Thanks, mom."
