The Beach

Frank’s POV

Frank woke up still loosely holding Gerard’s hand. He smiled, sitting up and stretching before checking to see what time it was. It was almost ten. They should probably get up and do something.

He gently shook Gerard’s shoulder, trying to wake him up.

Gerard slowly opened his eyes, smiling sleepily up at Frank. “Mornin’.”

“Morning, Gerard.” He smiled back, lying back down.

“What time is it?”

“About ten.”

“Oh. I guess we should probably get up.”

“Yeah. Probably.”

“Ugh, but I don’t wanna…” Gerard whined.

Frank grinned, kissing his cheek. “Come on, lazy-butt, we’ve got some kite flying to do.”

-

An hour later they’d eaten breakfast, changed into swim trunks and T-shirts, and were just arriving at the beach. It was a beautiful day; sunny and warm, with only a few fluffy white clouds in the sky.

Gerard opened the trunk, pulling the kites out. “Alright, do you want the dragon or the squid.”

“The dragon, obviously.” Frank grinned as Gerard handed him the kite, and he unraveled the string a little.

Gerard did the same with his, staring to run down the beach in the direction of the wind. He soon had his kite up high and stood there, waiting for Frank.

Now, to be honest, Frank had never flown a kite before, but it didn’t look too hard. He started running in Gerard’s general direction, pulling the kite along behind him, and grinned when there was finally both a squid and a dragon in the air. But, unfortunately, he’d gotten a little too close to Gerard, and with a slight shift of the wind, the strings got tangled.

The kites however, were still flying high. Frank giggled sheepishly. “Oops. Sorry.”

“It’s alright.” Gerard walked over to him, looking up and trying to figure out how to get the strings untangled, but all he managed to do was wrap his arms around Frank, and maybe tangle the strings even more. “Well, shit. That’s definitely not what I was trying to accomplish.”

“Mmm, I don’t mind.” Frank replied, kissing him softly on the lips. “I’m sure they’ll come down eventually.”

Gerard kissed him back, barely even acknowledging what he’d said. They ended up lazily kissing until the wind died down and the kites came crashing back to earth.

“Hm, I don’t think kite flying is our thing.” Frank chuckled, letting go of his string so Gerard could untangle it.

“Mmm, yeah, maybe we should so skinny dipping instead.” Gerard winked at him and Frank’s face started to feel very hot. “I’m just kidding, silly.” Gerard smiled, handing him back his tangle-free string. “But a dip in the ocean would be nice.”

Frank nodded, cheeks still warm.

They pulled their shoes and shirts off, leaving them in the car with their kites, and headed towards the water.

Well, as Frank expected, the ocean was fucking freezing. And it didn’t help that Gerard had pretty much pushed him in. He stood up, pushing his wet hair out of his face. “Gerard! You’re such a dick!” Reaching a hand out towards the sound of Gerard’s laughter, he found an arm and pulled him in.

“Ah! Shit, man, that’s cold!” Gerard wrapped his arms around himself, shivering.

“Yeah, that’s why you don’t go pushing someone in it.” He grinned, kind of enjoying the feeling of the cold water on his warm skin. Actually, he was already getting pretty used to it. “Hey let’s like…I dunno, just take a walk. But in the water.” For some reason he kind of just wanted to walk along in the shallow parts of the ocean. “Like, to that rock over there.” He pointed to a rather large rock that created a sort of divide in the beach.

Gerard shrugged. “Yeah, sure.”

As they walked along, feet dragging slightly in the water, Frank bit his lip nervously and reached out for Gerard’s hand.

Gerard glanced over at him and smiled, giving him a kiss on the cheek.

Frank smiled shyly, looking around at the scenery. The beach really was beautiful, although for some reason he tended to prefer ocean beaches when it was cloudy out. There was just a certain feel to it that made him. They were leaving tomorrow, and he found himself hoping it would be cloudy out.

After about ten minutes of walking, they reached the rock, and Gerard crouched down, gently poking at a starfish with his free hand and giggling.

Frank smiled and let go of his hand, sitting down in a shallower spot and watching Gerard poke various forms of sea life until he finally sat down next to him.

“This trip was a great idea, Frank.”

“Well, it wouldn’t have been possible without you.”

“Oh, I’d hope not.” He pulled Frank into his lap, snuggling him close. “The thought of you being away traveling with someone else for three weeks doesn’t make me too happy.”

Frank giggled, kissing his forehead. “Don’t worry, Gerard, I promise to only travel with you.”

After having lunch, and then spending a few hours making sand castles and having ridiculous water fights, they went back to the campsite, spending the rest of their day just sitting and talking (and cuddling).

Notes

Okay I know this was kind of a weird, pointless, and kind of bad chapter but I blame my brother. He kept pressuring me to write it when I had no inspiration, and I finally ended up writing it now, when I still have no inspiration and also have not slept or really eaten all that much in about 32 hours. So, goodnight. Hope the next chapter is better.
