Frank's POV

Frank was on the bus home from school on Wednesday when he got a text from Gerard.

'How soon can you be at my house?'

'Ten minutes, give or take. Why?'

'Just...can you please come over?'

'Of course. See you then.'

'See ya.'

Frank put his phone away, getting off at his stop and heading directly for Gerard's house. He was a little worried. Gerard was supposed to be the stable one. He wasn't the type of person to just say stuff like that out of the blue and not give a reason. Not that Frank minded of course. There's nothing he'd rather do than hang out with Gerard.

Getting to Gerard's house in just five minutes, he knocked on the door, noting that his mom wasn't home. When Gerard opened the door, Frank gasped audibly. "Holy shit."

Gerard had a black eye and several cuts and bruises on his face and neck. It seemed he had washed off most of the dried blood, but he still didn't look so good.

"What happened?" Frank stepped inside, closing the door behind him and taking a closer look at Gerard's face.

Gerard sighed. "Guess I didn't lay low enough."

"Oh no..." Frank sighed. "Are you hurt anywhere else?"

Gerard nodded. That's mainly why I called you over. I think my back is bleeding but I can't really get a good look at it.

"Well, let me see."

Gerard led Frank up to the bathroom, pulling his shirt off.

There were a few bruises on his back, and one small gash, but nothing bleeding. "No...you're good. This should all just heal on it's own."

"Oh good." Gerard turned around, and Frank could see that his ribs were badly bruised.

"Oh, Gerard..." Frank said sadly. "I should have done something...I should have warned you. I should have-"

Gerard cut him off. "You did warn me Frank. This isn't your fault. I wasn't careful enough."

Frank bit his lip and nodded, but Gerard hadn't convinced him. He was the one who knew the town, he was the one who should have been more careful. "Here, let me clean your face better." He grabbed some Kleenex, wetting one in the sink and gently cleaning off any remaining blood or dirt. Gerard had closed his eyes and Frank took the opportunity to just look at his face. Even all banged up, he was handsome. He hated this town so much. No one should be able to do something like this to someone like Gerard. It was times like this he wished he was in a comic book so he could secretly be a vigilante superhero hellbent on vengeance.

Gerard blinked his eyes back open and Frank looked away. "Frank. I'll be fine, really. It's not that bad." He smiled, and Frank couldn't help but smile back.

"Er, tomorrow is the last day of school but...no one ever really goes so we can just stay home. I wouldn't want to show up again if I were you. Oh and...I don't know your mom but you might want to cover all that up with makeup or she might not let you go on the road trip."

"Oh no, if anything this'll give her more of a reason to let me go." Gerard chuckled, pulling his shirt back on.

"...your mom works in strange and mysterious ways."

Gerard smiled, leading Frank back to his room. "Yeah, she's a little strange. But she's not too bad."

Frank nodded. "You should get some rest. Maybe you should take a nap."

Gerard smiled. "Only if you stay with me."

Frank grinned. "Yeah don't worry. I'm not leaving."
