All Those Years and I Never Knew
Lips, Cereal, and Teenagers
The motherfucker had played me. I thought I had him, I really did. But he beat me hard. "No. Fucking. Way," I said.
"Okay, own up." He leaned into me and stuck his lips out cheezily.
"What the hell," I mumbled. I grabbed him by the collar and kissed him, hard. I dipped his head back and shoved my tongue into his mouth. Our mouths were inseparable. He straightened and put his hands on my neck. Our tongues fought for dominance, mine eventually winning. Mikey put a hand to my cheek, and I'd be lying if I said it didn't turn me on in the slightest.
Eventually, I broke away and wiped my mouth. "There you go." His face was red, his eyes bewildered, his goofy smile returning broadly. "You're hot, huh?" I snickered. "I've had practice."
He was speechless and breathing hard.
I laughed again, harder this time. "Don't worry, it was only because I lost."
He finally took me home, not able to say a word the whole way. When he parked in my drive, he stammered. "I–I, uh...ahh..."
"I know." I hopped out of the car and went inside.
I decided to check to see if anyone was asleep. I pushed open one of my sibling's door. My sister, Rachael, was sitting on the floor, covered in blood, a bowl of cereal on her left and a industrial-sized blade on her right.
"Heya, sis," I whispered. This wasn't the first time I've come home to see her like this. The scars up and down her arms had been opened by the blade again, lines going across her wrists and forearms like streaks of red paint on a pale canvas.
I lay down next to her, not saying a word, and put my arms around her."Bad day, huh?"
"The worst," she said, her voice a hurt murmur of weakness.
"Want to talk?"
"Not really. But let's just say that teenagers are cruel."
I sighed. "And confusing."
After an eternity wrapped up in our own thoughts, I stood and crawled in her bed. I was exhausted. She smiled sleepily and got in bed with me. We were both sound asleep in an instant.
Notes
Okay I had written this last night for the first chapter and decided to split it into two.
If you're wondering, Lucy's older sister, Rachael, is the main character in my first story, Joining the Black Parade.
