The New Guy
"Hello? Is this Michael Way?"
The voice on the other line was unfamiliar. Who was this guy? “Yes this is him. Who am I speaking to?”
”This is Officer Johnson. Your brother, Gerard Way, has been in an accident. We rushed him to the hospital, but he didn’t make it…” The police went on about tests and questions I hardly answered.
My brother.
Dead.
It was so surreal. I realized something, “Officer? Were there any bullet or knife wounds on the body or the car?”
I heard muffled talking on the other line for a couple seconds. “No weapon wounds, and tests show that no drugs or alcoholic substances were involved. However, we did see skid marks that showed he was avoiding something or someone.”
I sighed, “thank you officer.” I hung up and drove all the way to the hospital.

”Sandra! Can you get me a coffee please? Extra sugar.”
”Yes sir,” she said as left my office. I continued staring at the red folder in front of me. I need to open it, but I could never bring myself to do it. Inside were the suspected murderers of my parents and possibly my brother. It all happened to suddenly.
Gerard had his whole life ahead of him. He had a boyfriend and a kid. He was supposed to run the company. But all that is gone, just like he is. His boyfriend Frank and their adopted daughter Bandit moved away a couple months after his passing. Now I own the company, and I have no one to lean on.
I’m completely alone.
I was awoken from my thoughts by the sound of a ringing telephone. I reached across my desk and picked it up, “This is Mikey Way, how may I help you?”
The voice of one of his female workers, Katie, rasped through the phone, “John Davina is on his way up sir.”
”Who?”
”John Davina. He’s your new personal secretary sir.”
I look of realized spread onto my face, “oh that’s right! Thank you Molly.” I hung up and fixed my desk. I’ve been needing a new secretary since my last one quit.
John Davina. He sounded strange, but the assistant manager hired him so he must be good. I heard a knock on my door. “Come in!”
The door swung open, and standing in the doorway was the most beautiful man I’ve seen in my life.
