Just Look at All That Pain

Flash Light

He waddled down one of the opposite hallways, with Gerard following closely behind. About a five minute walk from the lobby, the short, fat man stopped and fished a set of keys from his pocket. After fighting with the lock, he pushed open the heavy metal door. Gerard got a quick glance of the room beyond the door, but to his disappointment, it was pitch dark. The man stepped inside, letting the door close behind him, leaving Gerard stood in the hallway alone.
‘I need to know what’s behind that door,’ Gerard thought to himself as he contemplated how he was going to get in there. He could just run in, but without knowing who or what was in there, that seems like a pretty stupid idea. Another idea that seemed like his best bet, involved one of the metal pipes hanging from the ceiling or one of the pieces of brick lying on the ground.
Gerard had never done anything like this before but he had a feeling Frank was here.
“Fucking dog,” echoed through the door and interrupted his thoughts. Gerard quickly grabbed a brick from the floor and tucked himself into a doorway as he heard the metallic click of the door opening. He never knew what hit him as Gerard sprung forward and struck him over the head. He dropped to his knees and then fell face first into the floor. Gerard quickly grabbed his left arm and dragged him into the nearest open door he could find. After he pushed him into the corner of the room, Gerard grabbed the keys and headed back towards the door.
He braced himself as he stepped towards the door. The metallic click echoed slightly and Gerard pushed open the door and was met with the same darkness. He felt along the wall until his hand eventually found the light switch. The strip lights flickered on and at first, it seemed completely abandoned, with rubble and broken bottles strewn across the dark cement but tucked behind a pillar on the opposite end of the room, was the beginning of Gerard's worst nightmare. A single, thick chain was wrapped around the bottom of the pillar, and as Gerard neared closer, he got a glimpse of what was on the end of the chain.
Frank's emaciated body was curled into the fetal position and shuddered with every shallow breathe. Gerard stood in horror of the sight that lay before him. He stopped for a moment, shocked until the overwhelming urge to save him kicked in. He stumbled forward, unsure where to start. He placed his warm, pale hand on Frank's ice cold shoulder. Frank shuddered against the touch and jerked awake, eyes wide with fear. At the realization of who was knelt in front of him, Frank relaxed slightly.
"Frankie, baby, oh god," Gerard gasped quietly as tears started streaming down his face..
"Gee, get me home," Frank whispered in reply.
It broke Gerard's heart that he couldn't make everything ok, he couldn't just heal Frank, couldn’t just fly them home. Gerard slipped of his leather jacket and gently laid it across Frank's boney shoulder and back. Now Gerard's main problem was going to be getting Frank free.
