Always
The Rules
School ended for the day. Frank walked with me back to my car. I always gave him rides home and by home I mean the Way’s house.
The rest of the guys followed me to my car. “Am I giving anyone else a ride home?”
“No, we are driving with Gerard. See you at band practice in fifteen,” Mikey replied, walking away. He turned around and wink.
“What is going on with these guys?” I asked, observing Frank. He didn’t look at me. “Well, I’ll figure it out eventually.”
“Do we have rules?” Frank blurted.
“Rules to what exactly?” I started my car and left the school parking lot.
“Us… you know, being friends with benefits,” Frank mumbled. He stared at me, hopelessly.
I pondered. Are there rules to being friends with benefits? I usually just slept with a guy then left when he fell asleep.
I came to a red light. My car came to a halt. I gazed at Frank. His black hair hung over his left eye. I half smiled.
“If there aren’t rules, then can I do this?” he leaned over and pulled my face to his. He kissed me so delicately. My lips pressed against his and I put my hand up to his cheek. I opened my mouth, as did he, and my tongue explored with his.
I pulled away. “Not now,” I sighed. “Don’t get me worked up, Iero.” I laughed to ease the tension.
“I was trying to find my boundary,” Frank said, looking at the window.
“You won’t reach it, man, but yeah,” I paused. I wanted to continue to kiss his soft lips and feel his lip ring against my lip.
I pulled into the Way’s driveway. The garage door was already open and the guys were sitting on the sofa. Frank jumped out of the passenger door and ran to get mine, but I got the door before he could reach it. He frowned and stood in his stance as I walked over to Gerard to sit on his lap. I gave a Gerard a concerned look and he looked puzzled. I wrapped my arms around his neck and let my head rest on his shoulders.
“I need a drink, Gerard,” I whispered into his neck. “I’m quite angry.”
Gerard motioned for me to get up and went to the refrigerator. He pulled out a bottle of Captain Morgan for me and Coke. He handed it to me. Frank stared at me, biting his lip.
“I’m prepared so start playing, guys,” I shouted, taking a shot of liquor.
Ray laughed, “Jesus Christ, woman. We were going to discuss our set. What if there are producers there? We have to be our best ever.”
“We were honestly just thinking of playing our whole album,” Gerard stated. “We have enough time to do so.”
“Then what’s stopping you?” I asked, taking another shot.
They all glanced at each other.
“Well, nothing really,” Bob answered, stealing my bottle and taking a shot then handing it back to me.
“You guys are incredible,” I complimented them, wrapping my arm around Ray who was standing in front of me. “You will be amazing Saturday night and I’ll be front and center cheering you on.” I grinned. “Now go play me a song.”
They all got up. Frank walked over to me first and took a drag of my bottle.
“Danny,” he said, his eyes closing, “kiss me.”
“Get out of here, Frank,” I laughed, pushing him away. I didn’t want the guys to know our little situation. Frank opened his eyes and ran his hand through my hair. I growled.
“What?”
“First rule, Frank,” I help up my finger. “You can’t do those types of those things. Friends with benefits don’t do that. Treat me like anyone else.”
He scowled then nodded before walking away and going to his guitar. Another shot from my bottle hit my mouth.
