Welcome to the Black Parade
I'm Incomplete
Fast forward two days and I had taken a turn for the worse. I couldn’t even lift my arms anymore as I started blankly into the TV screen in front of me. The news was on but as I stared it seemed to merge into something else. I could have sworn the news began to fade out and the image of a black and white face replaced it. At first it was only a close up of an eye, but slowly the picture began to travel downward and stopped at the person’s mouth. The thin lips came into focus as my breathing began to weaken as well as my heart beat, when hadn’t been particularly strong anyway. Obviously sensing the end, a few of the nurses began huddling around my bedside. One took my hand as I slipped into unconsciousness again.
Darkness filled my vision momentarily before I woke up again. Except this time, it was different. I vaguely saw my reflection in the corner of the TV. My eyes had huge, dark, circles around them. I tried to wipe them away as the realization that I could lift my arms again hit me. I looked at the nurse with the hazel eyes again, who was stood in the corner of my room. She had tears streaming down her face. I leant forward to try and comfort her, or at least to show I still had some fight in me, but I easily sat up. In fact, all the pain which had plagued my body for weeks was gone. It was after this thought that I finally realized that I was dead. My worst nightmare had finally come true. The cancer had won. I sighed and swung my legs over the edge of my bed. It was like I had tripped an alarm. The second my feet hit the floor, the wall of my hospital rooms dropped to the floor, like a curtain, forming a pile of cloth on the floor.
Beyond the white walls, there was an entire world in gray scale. Directly in front of me there was a path. Ash covered the piles of wood which outlined the path as I slowly got up. I squinted my eyes at something in the distance which seemed to be moving closer to me. I looked down and realized I was in the middle of the path and the hospital room had disappeared. My feet sunk into the layers of ash as I watched myself take a few steps forward. I glanced up and the ‘object’ coming down the path was a lot closer this time. It looked like a parade float, which confused me. Why the hell would there be a parade float?
