I sat there, looking up at him in shock. "R-really?" I whispered. He nodded and smiled; I could tell he was trying to cover up his fangs. "Gerard how am I doing this? How am I 'changing your ways'?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. I silently applauded myself. I sounded confident and confrontational. I liked it.
"I'm not sure. There's just something different about you", he explaid quietly. "Before I bought you, I... Wasn't very good. I had a group of sl--I mean, people, here and I just... Got rid of them", he whispered, clenching the table. I got goosebumps. "But when you came, Annabelle, something melted. You're so, so beautiful, Annabelle. And I'm pretty sure you shocked me into realizing that humans are beautiful, and they're no lower than vampires", he said thoughtfully. "You figured this out in a day?" I asked, still having my doubts. "I'm a quick thinker. I develop my thoughts rapidly", he said shrugging and smiling down at me. I smiled back softly, still not quite believing him though. "Okay", was all I could say. He leaned down and kissed my cheek. "Eat up", he said, gesturing to my plate. I stared down at it and took a few more bites. It was a lot different than the shit they fed us at the hold so I was easily filled up after a few bites. "I'm pretty full", I said patting my stomach. "Really? Okay then", he said and put the plate in the fridge. Maybe I would have more later. He walked over to me and picked me up again. "I can walk you know", I said, somewhat stern but I giggled. "Oh you can now?" Gerard asked in a goofy voice. He set me down and I stood there. "Where to?" I asked, looking around the kitchen. "Not sure. It's quite a big house", he said shrugging. "Follow me, we'll find something to do", he said and started meandering through the house, taking my hand as he led me around. I started to relax just a little bit. Maybe I could trust this vampire.
