You're Not In This Alone.... The Only Hope For Me Is You.

Let Me Break This Awkward Silence.

"Why are they puttin me in here?!" Serafina shook her head in disbelief. Yelling at her parents as she flailed her arms and legs around, struggling against the strong arms that were pulling her into the back of the truck.

"It's for the best Fina.. You'll get the help you need" her mother said as she started to cry, dropping her eyes from her now hysterical daughter.

"Has she done anything in particular that you're worried about" the taller man spoke up, startling her.

Serafina's step-father grabbed her mothers hand seeing that she was beginning to question if they were doing the right thing. He began the long list. "Serafina harms herself in multiple ways. She inflicts many wounds on herself. Cutting, burning, things like that. You'll see in the observation file that I sent in, the many different cases. She also suffers from insomnia. So she needs help for that also.

"I don't need any help! I'm fine, Look at me mom, I'm fine! Mom, I promise I'm fine." Her mother looked up at her with sad helpless eyes as they sat Serafina down.

Raising his voice, Serafina's step-father spoke up again. "We both know that's not true Fina! Girls your age just don't try to kill themselves. You need some professional help, and we just can't give it to you."

"So you're sending me to an asylum?! A mental institution! You think I'm fucking crazy? I'm not crazy mom. Mom. Please don't do this to me." Serafina screamed and begged but for the first time ever, her mother turned her back on her

"It's for the best Serafina. I'm so so sorry." The doors shut and she heard the truck start as they drove away.

~~~~
It was eerie in the back of the dimly lit truck. Serafina took a deep breath still trying to calm herself down, breathing in the smell of mildew and metal. She couldn't help but think that John was the reason that her mother sent her away.Everything in her whole body told her that he was a bad guy, but her mother had really liked him so she tried to get along. After they got married last summer, things changed. He'd be one way in front of her mother and another way to her. As if he was stating that nothing she could do would get rid of him.
The truck stopped abruptly tearing Serafina from her thoughts as she fell forward. She laid there on the cold metal bed of the truck as she tried to listen to what the guys were saying in the front. She scrambled up as she heard the truck door open.
"Miss Rose, we're here." The same tall man from earlier spoke up, stepping into the back of the truck
"What?! You're not going to drag me out of here?!" She spat the words out like daggers.
"I wasn't planning on it, but am I going to have to?" The man kneeled down, reaching for her hand. "Miss Rose?"
She shook her head and grabbed for his hand. "Sorry."
"It's ohkay, I get that a lot." He laughed. "By the way, it's Ronnie."
"Yeah, well it's not your fault I'm here....Ronnie" Serafina said stepping down onto the dirt road from the truck. Looking around she noticed that the road behind her was pretty isolated, as if no one ever drives down this way... Not that they ever really needed to, it was a mental hospital. Ronnie tightened his grip on her hand and released it as soon as he did.
She looked at him wide eyed and jerked her hand away "What?"
"N-nothing"
"This way Miss Rose." The other guy came out of the huge building, with two other people.
She turned back around looking at the road as her eyes teared up in the corners, wondering how far she was away from home.
As if the other guy had known what she was thinking he started to walk towards them. Quickening his pace as she took a couple of steps towards the main road. Ronnie put his arm up stopping the other guy from charging her as she took a few more steps. "Ron, she's going to run!"
Ronnie shook his head. "No she's not. Watch."
Serafina dropped to her knees and started to cry. She'd gotten angry at her step-father, for stopping her from hanging out with her friends again. He mentioned something about heading out somewhere, but little did she know, she was the only one leaving. Serafina had never been away from her mother or her older sister, and as she continued to think about it. She'd never really been away from home either. All of her family and friends lived within the city or surrounding cities. Standing up she balled her fist, out of all this there was only one thing she was sure of, she had to get through this if she ever wanted to go home. Making way towards Ronnie, she wiped the tears from her eyes.
"You ready?" He asked.
"As ready as I'll ever be." Serafina stated as Ronnie walked her to the front of the Hospital.
