You're Beautiful To Me

The next morning I wake up alone and Miles is gone from his crib so I pull on clothes and slowly stumble out to the kitchen where I find Miles and Anna in their chairs, Anna feeding herself some toast while Frank sits beside Miles feeding him some yoghurt. "Dada" Anna chirps when she sees me, dropping her toast and reaching out towards me and I walk over and press a soft kiss to the top of her head before picking up her toast and offering it to her again and she shoves it in her mouth, taking another bite. After I kiss Miles and Frank I take a seat opposite Anna and Frank asks if I want some breakfast. "Not yet, I don't feel very good." "Are you alright babe?" "I dunno I just feel kinda funny." "Funny how?" "Just feel really tired and hot and just unwell." Frank frowns as he sits the bowl he's holding down and stands up, rounding the table to me and kneeling on the floor beside me, turning me to face him before gently placing his cool hands on my face and his frown increases as he says "Baby you're on fire." I nod slowly, feeling like crap and Frank sighs softly as he stands back up, taking my hand and helping me up too before leading me from the room and I try to stop him. "Wait, the kids..." "It's alright I'll only be a second" he assures me as he leads me to the bathroom, dropping my hand before reaching in and starting the shower, adjusting the temperature until he's satisfied and then he turns back to me and says "Hop in baby, it'll help you feel better." I nod slowly, reaching up to take off my shirt as Frank leaves the room and once I'm fully naked I step into the shower, sighing in relief as the cool water washes over me and I slump back against the cold tiles, slowly sliding my way down to sit under the cool spray. I feel myself slowly start to cool down and when I feel a little better I drag myself out of the shower and dry off, pulling on my boxers but leaving the rest of my clothes on the floor as I leave the bathroom and I follow the sound of Anna's yelling to the living room where I find Frank on the couch with Miles sitting in his lap, both of them laughing as Anna bounces around in front of them yelling unintelligible babbles and waving her arms around. "What's going on in here?" I ask and Anna's head snaps around to look at me and she takes off running as fast as she can to me, launching herself into my legs. "Dada dada dada" she chants out as I bend down and pick her up, settling her against my chest as I make my way over to the couch to sit beside Frank. Once I sit down Anna squirms out of my arms and takes off across the room towards her teddy bear and Frank sits Miles on the floor who quickly flips himself onto his hands and knees, crawling his way over to Anna. "How do you feel now?" Frank asks as he wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me into his side as I tuck my feet up and melt into him. "A little better" I tell him and he nods before kissing my forehead. "You want to try some food? I can make you some soup or something?" "Do we have ice cream?" I ask, wanting something cold and Frank stares at me shocked. "Really?" "Yeah" I tell him, feeling uncomfortable with his stare. "Yeah I'm sure we do, let me have a look" he tells me, pressing another soft kiss to my forehead before getting up and leaving the room. While Franks gone I turn my attention back to Miles and Anna who are both sitting in the corner facing each other, Anna waving her teddy in Miles' face while he bats at it and they both giggle softly. I slump back into the couch with a smile on my face just watching them play together until Frank comes back with a small bowl of chocolate and vanilla ice cream, handing it to me before taking his seat beside me again.

After I finish my ice cream I sit the bowl aside and slump over into Franks side, resting my head against his shoulder as I close my eyes and Frank wraps his arm around my waist, holding me close as I slowly drift off to sleep. After sleeping for a while I wake up in bed to a blood curdling scream and I jump out of bed, running through the house looking for Anna who made the scream and I finally find her in the bathroom being dragged out the window by a man and I run over and grab her, roughly pulling her back in and into my arms. "Daddy" she wails out and I turn my head to notice a large puddle of blood on the floor coming from the shower and I take a few hesitant steps towards it, pulling the curtain back to see Frank and Miles laying on the floor of the shower, bleeding heavily from their injuries and I let out a choked off sob as a loud thud sounds behind me and I spin around, clutching Anna tight as I come face to face with Matt. I open my mouth but no sound comes out and Matt slowly stalks towards us, a blood soaked knife in his hand and I back up a few steps before slipping in the blood and falling to the floor and Matt lunges at me, snatching Anna back from my arms and I scramble to get off the floor as he runs from the room, taking her with him and by the time I get out of the bathroom they're gone, the front door wide open and I can faintly hear Anna screaming for me. My eyes fly open and I sit up, gasping for air as a choked off sob escapes my throat and I jump out of bed, my head spinning but I ignore it as I run through the house looking for Frank and Anna and Miles and I find them in the living room, Anna sitting on the floor colouring while Frank lays on the couch with a napping Miles in his lap and I run over and scoop Anna into my arms, crushing her to my chest as I sob softly, pressing wet kisses to the top of her head as I squeeze her tight, needing to be sure she's here and she squirms around wanting to be put down. After a few long seconds I put her back down and Frank comes up behind me, gently slipping his arm around my waist as he says "Baby?" I turn and launch myself into his chest, burying my face in his neck as I let out a loud sob, my hands clenching in his shirt as I continue to cry and Frank rubs my back gently as he says "Baby, it's alright just take a deep breath" and I gasp for air as little hands hit at my leg and I pull away to look down at Anna who lets out her own little whine as she says "Dada" and bursts into tears too.
