You're Beautiful To Me

My mom makes us breakfast while Anna curls up in my arms, her little hands reaching out to touch everything she can see while she makes little noises and I stand and leave the room, walking into the living room and sitting at my grandmas piano in the corner. "Watch this baby" I tell Anna as I press down on a few keys, causing the sound to echo around the room. Her eyes go wide and she stares at me like she's shocked before she brings her little fist down on the keys and it makes a loud noise causing her to shriek and smile. "You like that baby?" I ask her and she bangs her hand on it again, producing another loud noise which startles her a little and she starts to whimper. "Hey hey it's ok baby, I know that one was a little loud" I tell her as I cuddle her against my chest again and Frank chuckles behind me. "She scared the shit out of herself just then" he laughs as I turn to face him and smile at him. "Yeah, she's a worry" I say as she settles back down and her little eyes start drooping closed. "Nap time little miss?" I say softly to her and she stares back up at me with half open eyes. "Hey babe did you bring her blanket?" I ask and Frank nods before leaving the room and coming back with her light pink blanket. He helps me wrap her in it before taking her from my arms and cuddling her to his chest as we walk back into the kitchen where mom has put our food on the table.

While Anna naps we eat and then make our way into the living room and sit around catching up, Frank going for the childhood photo albums like he does every time we come here, giggling at all the pictures of me and Mikey as babies up to the age of about twelve, mom encouraging him by telling stories. I sit in the corner with Anna in my lap, mortified by the current story being told when she starts to stir and she makes the cutest little noise as her eyes flutter open and she lets out a small gurgle as she looks up at me. "Welcome back sleepy head" I say softly to her and she waves her little hands around towards my face and I lean down so she can touch me, kissing and nibbling at her hands when they come near my mouth causing her to shriek in delight. As the afternoon drags on I start to get tired and Frank and I say our goodbyes, both getting in our cars and heading back home, Frank following behind me. When we get there we take Anna inside and settle her in her bassinet, tucking her in to keep her warm before Frank scoops me into his arms and carries me across the room, laying me in bed and crawling in beside me, cuddling me close to his chest as he whisper in my ear "I love you so so much baby." "Love you too Frankie" I tell him before closing my eyes and drifting off to sleep, feeling warm and safe.
