Sick In His Body
We both decided to go to our final class, my nose wasn't bleeding as much anymore and we were both feeling a bit better. We had music together and we were probably just going to go into one of the studios and mess around anyway.
When got into the class the teacher told us to do just that and so we grabbed our bags and a guitar and made our way to the room down the end of the corridor, shutting the door behind us.
"Are we going to get any work done today or are we just going to mess around?" Gerard laughed a little with his words, knowing my answer already.
"It's friday, what do you think?" I smirked, pulling my guitar up anyway and strumming a few of the strings and Gerard laughed a bit louder.
"Play me something." Gerard instructed.
"What do you want me to play?" I answered him but still had my eyes on the guitar, tuning the strings a little.
"I don't mind, think of something." Gerard answered.
I went through the list of songs that I could remember in my head until I came up with something. "How do you feel about Zombie by The Cranberries?"
"Whatever you want" Gerard shrugged before I started to play. I got about halfway through the song there was a knock on the door.
"I'll get it." Gerard jumped up from his seat with a smile and grabbed the door handle, but his face fell when he opened it.
Mikey started talking as soon as he saw Gerard. "Gerard, I'm so sorry I didn't mean what I said."
"Leave it, Mikey. I don't care." Gerard tried to shut the door but Mikey put his hand between the gap.
"Just let me in and hear me out for a moment." Mikey said, a little calmer than before.
"Why should I?" Gerard didn't have a chance to get a reply because Mikey had already pushed his way through the door.
"You really don't get it, do you?" Gerard spat at Mikey before walked out of the door going go knows where, huffing nonsense under his breath.
I was about to go after him before Mikey grabbed my arm and pulled me back.
"Stay away from him." Mikey muttered sharply.
"Excuse me?" I snatched my arm away from his grip and turned to face him.
"You heard me, stay away from him." He repeated himself, sounding angrier this time.
"What do you have against me? I sat next to you in one lesson and you already hate me, like can you explain this to me?" I countered, frustrated.
"You're bad news. I can just tell. I saw you listening to our conversation earlier, what if I told him that? He wouldn't like you so much then would he?" Mikey smirked but his face fell when I replied.
"He already knows. What do you think happened to my nose? It's broken and bleeding for a reason." I answered him, bluntly.
"You're changing him." He replied, simply. Sounding more sad than angry.
"And he's changing me. It's what people do, it's how people work. You learn and you change to figure things out." I said back, softer this time.
"But you're making him bad like you with your cigarettes and your alcohol and whatever else you do." Mikey waved his hands around like he was trying to elaborate but knew he had no idea what he was talking about.
"But I'm not. I've never made him smoke a cigarette and I've never brought a bottle of alcohol anywhere near him. I spend most of my time telling him to go to class. This isn't some Marvel movie. I'm no villain, Mikey. I'm just getting by in my own way, it's not my fault if he wants to come with me." I left the room after that, leaving Mikey to just stand there. I stopped thinking about him and went after Gerard for the second time that day.
