Alone Yet Together

I sighed as I walked down the broken concrete pavement. I didn't know why I had to go to that place, it's not like I learned anything the whole time I'd been here. I was tired of the ancient, yellowing walls and the grimy floors and I was tired of having to sit at the back of a classroom every day just to hear some teacher spout some nonsense about a topic I didn't care about. It was a prison, and I had a six hour sentence every day.

I walked through the big metal gates and into the building, I'd missed the first bell and I was late. What a great start to the week. I made my way to my first class, I wouldn't usually, but my attendance record was plummeting so I had to make an appearance in class every now and then. I careered down the corridor but I was stopped by a body ramming into mine. I looked up and saw a boy with tangled black hair, pale skin and a face I didn't recognise.

"Watch it, asshole," I hissed as I pushed past him forcefully, making him stumble and drop his books onto the linoleum floor. I carried on walking, too tired to give a shit.

I knocked on the classroom door and was about to make my apologies and go inside when the teacher interrupted me.
"You're not in here today, Mr Iero. The Headteacher has asked for you in her office." I sighed for probably the hundredth time that day already, threw my bag over my shoulder and sloped back down the corridor. I knocked a few times and waited for the all too familiar voice,

"Come in" I pushed down on the door handle and stepped into the room obligingly. "Ah, Frank! Take a seat," The woman gestured towards a pale green chair and I sat down and waited for whatever it was she was going to tell me off for this time, except I was surprised. Although I wasn't sure if it was pleasantly.

"We have a new student in today and he needs somebody to show him around. He's a good kid, A grades, nice attitude and I figured he could teach you some things. And, since you spend most of your time skipping class to walk around the hallways instead, I should think you know your way around."

"No way, Mrs Johnson. No!" There was no chance in hell I was letting some kid follow after me all week. I shook my head in protest.

"Mr Iero, there is no choice in this, after all, I could just punish you for all of those missed classes instead." She enunciated sternly. "Let me call him in, he's nice, you'll soon warm to him." She smirked like she knew something I didn't and it made me uncomfortable.

"Mr Way, come here please" A boy shuffled into the room, his head hung and his face hidden behind a curtain of hair. I looked him up and down, starting at his feet, and I was met with a pair of eyes staring back .Oh no. The boy from the corridor.

"Frank Iero this is Gerard Way, Gerard Way this is Frank Iero." his skin got even paler when he saw it was me he was stuck with. I was worried he would eventually become transparent.

"H-hey" He looked up through dark eyelashes and nodded his head towards me in an acknowledging fashion.

"Whatever kid" I shook my head and stood up from my seat, ignoring his offered hand shake. Instead I gestured for him to follow me after me.

Notes

There will be less of Frank's sarcastic inner monologue and more story soon I'm just trying to set the scene y'know. Feedback is awesome and I'll update soon.

Stay classy, folks.
