The Boy Next Door

Heaven and Hell

(Franks P.O.V)
I sulked in the car as mum drove us to our new house. I didn’t want to move and leave my friends. I don’t know anyone here and I find it hard to make new. It doesn’t help it’s my last year of high school. I sighed loudly capturing the attention of mum. “I’m sorry sweetie but I have to go where my work takes me. We’ve been over this. Think of it as a new opportunity to make friends. Who knows you might even like it here if you give it a chance.” She beamed at me encouragingly. I felt slightly guilty she was really trying. I gave her a forced smile back which seemed to please her. I went back to looking out the window until we arrived at our new house. The movers truck parked behind our car.
“Honey do you mind taking in my bag? I just need to talk to them.” She gestured to the truck drivers behind us. “Sure” I carefully picked up Pansy from the backseat, slinging her over my back before going to the boot to collect our bags. I struggled across the never ending grass, muttering under my breath as mum waltzed on by not offering any help. She unlocked the door and opened it with a huge smile. “Welcome to your new home!” she said revealing the interior of the two story house. A staircase stood right behind the door, leading to the bedrooms. I raised my eye brows at mum, a question with no words. “Go ahead and choose your room.” She said. “Thanks mum!” I ran up the steps heading straight for the attic steps. The attic was the only room in the house with wooden floors and its own ensuite, a large window sat on the wall facing the house on our right. I loved it instantly. “MUM I’M HAVING THE ATTIC” I yelled down the stairs. I placed Pansy under the window and run down the stair tacking them two at a time almost knocking over one of the movers. “Watch where you’re going!” The older one yelled at me. “Sorry” I called out while going to the truck and collecting my boxes.I carried them to my room praying I wouldn’t trip, which was quite likely to happen considering I couldn’t see my feet. I somehow made it to my room still in one piece, the room now filled with furniture. I got started organising all my furniture and personal belongings, hanging up all my band posters around the room. I looked out the window to see a black haired boy around seventeen watching me intently. I smiled and waved knowing mum would see this as a great opportunity. He starred not responding, I blushed and looked away feeling slightly awkward.I looked back to the window which was now vacant. Sighing I finished unpacking throwing the boxes down the stairs and flopping onto the bed with a random book.
I must have been reading for longer than I thought because before I knew it mum was calling me down for dinner. I made my way down the stair, the empty boxes having disappeared. Mum was sitting in the living room with two plates and a steaming box of vegetarian pizza. My stomach growled as the smell of food hit me. “I thought you might want to watch a movie with dinner” Mum said dishing out the food. “That sounds great. What movie?” I asked taking a huge bite of pizza. “Dawn of the Dead” Cool that’s my favourite movie I thought happily. We quietly watched the movie, both of us hating it when people talk through them. Once the movie finished mum collected the dishes and made her way to the kitchen. I went to my room and fell asleep instantly, not caring how early it was.

(Time Lapse)
I woke to darkness, confuse as to why I was awake. I looked out the window from my position in bed, startled when I saw a figure on the roof. I looked closer realising it was the boy from earlier that day. His eyes bored into mine as time seem to stop completely. I snapped out of the trance stumbling out of bed and shutting the curtains while glaring at him. Who watches people when they sleep? That’s just downright weird. I shrugged it off, too tired to care as I flopped back in bed and fell back into unconsciousness.
(Time Lapse)
I woke to a knocking on my door. “Frank it’s time to get up.” I groaned rolling onto the floor with a painful thump, not my brightest idea. “I’m up I grumbled.” I slipped into the shower regretting not having one last night. It’s too cold I thought to myself as my teeth started chattering and goose bumps formed on my wet skin. I quickly dried myself throwing on my best black skinny jeans a long black sleeve shirt and a red leather jacket. I went back to the bathroom brushing my teeth and applying a thin layer of eyeliner. I quickly run a comb through my wet hair before wondering into the kitchen to complete my morning routine. Mum smiled as I entered the kitchen putting down a large cup of coffee. “How’d you sleep?” She asked placing a large sloppy kiss on the side of my face. “Eeew. Fine I guess.” I replied wiping my face on my sleeve. I quickly grabbed my books and downed a pop tart before slipping on my shows and bidding mum farewell.
I looked at the map she gave me determining which way the bus stop was. I slowly made my way there, being very careful that I didn’t get lost. As I arrived I noticed a familiar face staring at me from behind his black hair, a smaller boy that looked remarkably similar stood next to him. Just as I was trying to decide if I should introduce myself the bus rolled up, a huge herd of kids all ready inside. I was the last one to get on successfully standing on three different peoples feet as I made my way to the last vacant seat that happened to be right in front the black haired boy. I set myself down ignoring all the people staring at me and the people that called out ‘newbie’ or ‘hey look, fresh meet’. I sighed, this was gonna be a long day.
I got off the bus as me arrive at my new school. Hundreds of kids were swarming about laughing, screaming, running and talking. I made my way to the office trying to keep the content of my stomach off the floor, which proved harder than you might think. I made my way up to a large desk with a round ginger haired lady behind it. “Um hi, my names Frank Iero. I’m new hear.” The women fingers started gliding over the keys. “Oh hello Frank. My names Patricia. This is your timetable you have maths first.” She said with an overly enthusiastic voice. She looked behind me calling out to someone with a huge puff of hair. “Ray this is Frank. Could you possible show him around today.” She asked nicely. “Yeah sure” said the tall boy beaming down at me. “He has Maths first with Mr. Walker. Good luck.” She called waving as Ray ushered me along. “I have most of the same classes as you and your lockers right next to mine.” He stated as they made their way down the hall giving some people fist bumps as he pasted. I was about to answer when Ray stopped next to two blue lockers. He pushed the paper into my hand. “That lockers yours, and the combination is on your timetable.” He said diving into his locker. I turned the dial slowly the locker popping open. I barely had time to get my books and shut my locker before Ray was pulling me towards the maths room. We entered making our way to the back. “You can sit with me.” Ray said pulling me down into the vacant seat. Mr. Walker entered the classroom soon after, quickly hushing the class. He started calling out the roll pausing on my name. “I see we have a new student.” He looked straight at me like he was expecting me to respond. “uh yeah.” The class snickered as I tried to form a reply . He waved a hand at the ball averting the classes attention off me. I daydreamed through the first couple of lessons barely answering Ray as he kept talking. A few kids tried to start a conversation with me but quickly gave up when I didn’t respond.
The bell rang for lunch alerting my stomach as it growled embarrassingly loud making Ray laugh. “Come on you can sit with me and my friends.” I smiled dumping my books in my locker before following Ray to the cafeteria. We got our lunches before heading over to the table furthest away from the door. Me and Ray were the first ones there, though we didn’t have to wait long before a tall blond came over followed by the black haired boy and what I can only presume was his younger brother. They slid into the table, the black haired boy raising his eyebrows at Ray. “This is Frank everyone. He’s new so I asked him to sit with us. Frank this is Bob, Gerard and Mikey. “ Ray said gesturing towards the group. The blond boy whose name was Bob nodded, while Gerard as I now knew him as waved and Mikey just stared at the table.Ray and Bob talked the whole time asking me the occasional question while I mostly just stayed quiet and listened. Gerard and Mikey whispered between the two of them pretty much ignoring the rest of the table. The rest of the day went by quickly, before I knew it the bell rang signalling the end of the day. Relief washed over me as the first day of school ended.
I made my to the bus stop seeing Gerard and Mikey up ahead but deciding against walking with them. The sound of kids talking filled the bus as I made my way on choosing a seat up the front, away from my strange neighbours. I walked home Gerard and Mikey walking behind me,ignoring my presence. I heard my name come up a few times, making me curious and a bit pissed off at the same time. They won’t talk to me yet they find it perfectly okay to talk about me. I walked into the house running straight into mum. “How was school?” She asked, a slightly nervous look on her face. “It was fine.” I mumbled, running up the stairs before she could ask more questions. I entered my attic, and decided I never wanted to leave here again.
